After the first season, fans were extremely disheartened when Amazon canceled the well-made horror-comedy show “Truth Seekers.” Instead, creators Nick Frost and Simon Pegg crossed over to the positive side of shows that are either ingenious or just downright stupid.
It features a group interested in all things paranormal and documents these occurrences in the UK, most notably ghost sightings. Unfortunately, even though this eight-part series ticked all the boxes, good acting, good writing, and a good concept, it had a very low viewership because of inadequate marketing. Because of this, Amazon decided not to renew the show for the second season.
Nick Frost, one of the creators and stars of the show, was incredibly disappointed and described the cancellation as being “a massive kick in the willy.” He said that he was looking forward to telling more amusing ghost stories and was saddened to hear that it wasn’t renewed despite all the hard work and effort they put into the show.
Rumoured Release Date
As Amazon has already confirmed the cancellation after the first season, we probably will not see a release date shortly. Although if Amazon changes their decision or another streaming service picks up the show, we can expect a new season.
Story So Far
Our protagonist Gus Roberts lives with his father-in-law after the traumatic death of his wife, Emily. He works for the telecommunications network named Smyle, where he is considered the best broadband installer. Although he excels at his work, he is more interested in paranormal occurrences and such. So when he’s paired with another paranormal junkie Elton John, their interest leads them to investigate a ghost sighting in an area where they were supposed to install broadbands.
In their journey, they meet Astrid, a woman who admits to Gus and Elton that she is being harassed by spirits and wants free. They go to numerous properties to document the sightings for a youtube channel that Gus created. After many such escapades, they find out that they have to stop Dr. Peter Toynbee, an insane scientist who wants to gain immortality at any cost.
Expected Cast
If the show goes on a different trajectory and comes back for a new season, we might see the main characters, Nick Frost, as Gus Roberts, and his companion Samson Kayo as Elton John returns to our screens. We might also recognize Emma D’Arcy, Simon Pegg, Malcolm McDowell, and Susie Wokoma reprise their roles as Astrid, David, Richard, and Helen.
Expected Storyline
Given that the new season does come out, it will follow the happenings of the first season. As we saw in the season finale, the telecommunications network had inherently been hiding a lot of information which is why it was quite mysterious why they released the 8G mobile data after trying to open the door and thus save the world. And most importantly, what is it that Gus has that is so important to them?
There is also much to know about Gus’s wife and their communications, Astrid being a ghost and JoJo 74 not being from planet earth. So it is safe to say that there is much to uncover if the second season does get manifested.
