This is a new film of the year which is about Christmas and is based on a 2015 book. The film was released on November 26, 2021, in the UK, Australia, France, China and Germany. But Netflix released the movie on November 24, 2021. The movie has received a lot of appreciation from the audience.
What Is The Movie About?
The story is about Christmas Eve when Andrea, Moppet and Patrick have just lost their beloved mother, and now when they are left without their mother, their father too is planning to go on an urgent trip regarding his work, and he has entrusted the safety of his children in the hands of Ruth Aunty. She’s an old woman who keeps the children safe and keeps entertaining them too by telling them Christmas movies.

Who Is Joel?
Joel is a woodcutter who lives with his son, Nikolas, in the forest. Nikolas, too had lost his mother two years ago. Nikolas, however, tries to calm himself every night by remembering the legendary place, Elfhelm. Here a girl found a mysterious but magical place where elves resided, and they turned out to be of great help as she spent the winters there.
One night, a mouse came to Nikolas’s house to fetch some food for himself, and he was named Miika, and Nikolas taught him to speak too.
The King’s Search For Hope
The king calls for his courtiers one day and asks them to find an object that would come as a gift and turn out to be a hope for the whole kingdom. And whoever fetches it would be given a huge reward. Joel, along with the other men, leaves his home in search of the legendary place. He leaves his son, Nikolas, with Carlotta, who is aunt to Nikolas, but she’s a very selfish woman too. And she doesn’t treat Nikolas well.
Nikolas finds the map!
But back at home, Nikolas succeeds at finding the map that leads to Elfhelm and decides to go to the North and find his beloved father so that he can tell him the path to it. Nikolas takes Miika with him and sees that he can talk to him too. When they reach a moon forest, a reindeer allows Nikolas to use him for a ride. The reindeer is named Blitzen.
The Legendary Elfhelm
On reaching the place, the trio realizes that there’s nothing there but only Joel’s knife. Nikolas is very upset, and little Noosh and his father, Topo, find him and Topo gives a spell to Nikolas and confirms his arrival in Elfhelm but also reminds him that he won’t be visible to all over here but only those who actually believe in the existence of the place.
