We think this Christmas is probably the best Christmas in a decade for movie lovers like us. We can’t imagine how many Christmas special movies are released and how many are yet to be released. Yes, guys, this movie does not come from the great Hollywood. But a crew from Nigeria.

The Christmas special release A Naija Christmas is helmed by Kunle Afolayan, the famous Nigerian director and actor. Being an original Netflix product, the movie was released on December 16, 2021. The movie falls under the romantic comedy genre, and we can assure you it’s a bone-tickling one. The reason why the movie is so special is that it is the maiden Christmas movie from Nigeria.

We should indeed thank Netflix for widening the border for the viewers like us for bringing movies from less popular film industries across the world, just like the Nigerian film industry. The direction is something that needs to be mentioned here. Kunle Afolayan has done a great job, and he proved his directional prowess through A Naija Christmas.

Moreover, he has tried to bring Nigerian culture to the forefront in the most beautiful way. The movie has successfully portrayed how the Nigerian family works through faith, class, and gender. The actors’ performances like Rachel Oniga, Kunle Remi, Efa Iwara, and Abayomi Alvin need to be noted. They can be considered as a threat to Hollywood actors to say.

Is A Naija Christmas a hype? Nope. Not at all. It has given the viewers what it promised. Even though the theme is Christmas, the movie has entangled many family values into the story plot. So let’s just say A Naija Christmas is a must-watch.

As A Naija Christmas is the first Christmas Netflix release from the Nigerian film industry, you can expect a handful of Nigerian flavors as they will reach the global level where most of the viewers are unfamiliar with the Naija culture. So it’s a good chance to explore Nigeria during the Christmas holidays. The theme of the movie is family and relationships.

The story’s main plot is the fierce competition between three brothers Uge, Obi and Chike, who are entangled in funny situations regarding women. The story takes a turn when their mother Agatha pledges her house to the one who settles the first. Thus, the race of the strongest began.
