Reality tv shows are becoming more and more popular these days. When most shows were repetitive with the same premise, MTV’s Are You The One decided to try something new. In season 9, there will be 22 conventionally attractive men and women are sent to live in a single house where they hope to find true love. Before they meet each other, the show producers use scientific technology to match up the singles with their “perfect” soulmate; this information is kept secret. The singles then go on dates to figure out their predetermined partner.
If the eleven couples at the end of the season are the correct ones determined by the algorithm within ten guesses, the entire group shares a prize of a million dollars. With every wrong guess, the total prize money gets reduced. Up until the eighth season, all ten couples were heterosexual, but in an attempt to increase LGBTQ+ representation, the eighth season accepted sexually fluid relationships. Are You The One being one of the first reality TVs shows that openly featured members of the queer community. This arrangement was appreciated by fans and critics alike.
The show was such a huge hit, and it started a trend in numerous countries. Are You One Brazil in 2015, Det perfekte match in Denmark, ten couples’ parfaits in France, One Germany, El Matcho Perfecto in Mexico, and One Sverige in Sweden people across the globe enjoyed the distinctive concept.
A spin-off show titled “Are You The One: Second Chances” hosted by Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown was also released in 2017. It features ten couples that were deemed to be a “perfect match” in the original series. They have to put their relationship to the test by picking between a share or steal. If both choose to share, the couple is allowed to compete further. If both choose to steal, they are sent home with no money. And if one chooses to share and the other steal, the person who picks share will go home with nothing, and the person that picks steal will go home with whatever money they have collected so far.

With seasons 1,3,4,7, and 8 filmed in Hawaii, the ninth season will likely also be filmed there. After all, a state with a pleasant climate, beautiful beaches, and lots of sunlight is the perfect location for a reality dating show! It could also be filmed in Peurto Rico like the second season, in the Dominican Republic, as the fifth season. Or in New Orleans, Louisiana, like the sixth season.
But check this out. All the guess works failed. We can see that the filming location chosen for season 9 of Are You The One has been Spain, to be more specific, Gran Canaria. That surely is a pretty place for all the love to brew and all the romance to fill the air. After all, Spain is considered one of the places best suited for lovers. With all the white and blue walls, with wide ocean embracing it. Bet these lovers had fun.
