He is still desperate to go back to his old military job despite the PTSD the war days gave him. He struggling with hallucinations of strong sounds that ring in his ears. The opportunity of getting back to military life comes to him with the worst news of his friend Rodriguez’s death. It is his responsibility to take the deceased military personnel’s dog to his funeral in Arizona.

What did the Critics Say About the Movie?
Even though the movie is moved by many it still faces harsh criticism from the critics. Many complained about the ending. Many wanted just a simple end where the army dog and the man doing something fun towards the end.
David Ehrlich says the movie to be a little off-balance with the nice stuff being tense and the tense stuff being nice but according to him the movie is okayish and it works. He rates the movie a B.
There is a disturbing scene in the movie when the dog starts barking at a Muslim man because of the way he is dressing. Briggs did explain to the person that it was how the dog was due to his PTSD of wartime in Iraq. The scene may create trouble but the director tried their best to mend it.

The movie is highly appreciated for its excellent portrayal of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how drastically it can affect the people going through it.
