The Old Man is an American thriller series. It is based on a 2017 novel with the same title written by Thomas Perry. The story follows Dan Chase, a former CIA operative who has been off the grid for three decades. After having killed an assassin, he is forced to go into hiding.
During this endeavor, he rents a room from Zoe McDonald, with whom he is forced to team up while he is on the run. The first two episodes of the series are out, and with the third one around the corner, here’s what you need to know about how long the series will last.
How Many episodes will the Old Man have?
The Old Man Season 1 is commissioned to have seven episodes. The first two episodes are currently out, and the third episode is set to release on the 23rd of June 2022. It is titled ‘Either Learn or Be Silent.’ The order of release is one episode a week, following two episodes during release week.
The Plot of Old Man
Dan Chase, which happens to be his alias rather than his real name, is out on the run from people who want him dead. He’s been living undercover in the suburbs for a long time. He and his wife, Abbey, were also raising a family.
Their retirement, however, was cut short but Abbey’s disease. When we get to see Chase, however, he is old and frail, getting increasingly paranoid about the people who are after him.
In the first episode, we find out that he is, after all, right. He stops and kills an intruder, justifying his paranoia. Chase then sets off on the run with his dogs. He calls his daughter to assure her he is fine, and so are the dogs.
Harper, Chase’s old handler, who is brought in to capture Chase, instead helps him escape. There is mention of one Faraz Hamzad, but nothing about the dirt on Harper is really known. Harper’s dealings immediately catch the attention of CIA Agent Waters.
Chase ignores Harper and chooses to fight his pursuers. He then calls Harper on Waters’ phone and warns him that anyone sent after him would go back home in a bag. He did not seem to be an old washed-out man after all. Chase was ready for anything that came his way.
Cast for The Old Man
The show boasts Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, John Lithgow as Harold Harper, E. J. Bonilla as Raymond Waters, Bill Heck as a younger Dan Chase, Leem Lubany as a young Abbey Chase, Alia Shawkat as Angela Adams, Amy Brenneman as Zoe McDonald, and Gbenga Akinnagbe as Julian Carson. Hiam Abbas plays an older Abbey Chase as one of the guest casts.
Where to Watch
The Old Man is available to watch on Hulu right now. The first two episodes can be streamed, with the third episode turning up soon. It is a great show, in my opinion, and you should watch it if you’re into the whole crime thriller show.
