Mindhunter is a well-liked crime thriller series on Netflix which focuses on encounters with serial killers. The show premiered back in 2017 and proved to be an instant hit among the audiences. It was followed by the release of the second season in 2019. However, viewers have been eagerly waiting for the release of its third season ever since the release of the finale episode of the second season. The plot of the show is based on Holden Ford and Bill Tench, who are FBI agents. They both explore the psychologies of serial killers to understand them better. The show is based on an astonishing book – Mindhunter: India, the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. The authors of the book are Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas. Hit movie Gone Girl’s Director David Fincher is a producer of the series. He’s been trying for a long time to renew the series, but COVID-19 and budget issues have gotten in his way. Unfortunately, many movies and series productions have been hit by COVID-19 on a high scale resulting in delayed releases.

Mindhunter Season 2 was highly praised by viewers when it was aired in 2019. There has been no official announcement or statement regarding the renewal and release of the third season. Reportedly, the producer of the show stated that the future of the series is in doubt and is unclear. We aren’t sure whether the series will return for its third season but, it is not too bad to keep one’s hopes high. The show hasn’t been canceled but neither renewed. The executive producer of the show- David Fincher, in an interview, said that he’s currently involved in many projects at present.
Contracts of renowned actors- Holt McCallany, Jonathan Groff, and Anna Torc have also ended. These things point in one direction: the series might not be renewed, and it is probably dead. To summarize, the series might be on indefinite hold. COVID-19 pandemic has hit the film industry badly, due to which many production houses had to pause their projects. If we consider that Mindhunter isn’t canceled yet then, it can be assumed to release somewhere in the first half of 2022. There was quite a long gap between the first and following season of the show. Keeping all these things forward, it appears as if we have to wait longer.
