Netflix’s new mini-series, the defeated shows Germany after the war. It is also known as Shadow play. It was aired on August 18, 2021. It gained so much love and popularity from the audience and was in the top 10 list of Netflix.
Season 2 Expected Release Date
Season 2 was initially supposed to be filming in 2020, but due to the covid-19 pandemic situation, it was delayed. And now it is estimated that it will premiere somewhere in 2022. The series had to be 16 episodes long and aired in two seasons with eight episodes each. And the first season is out already, so it is assumed that the other season must be there sometime or the other.
The first season of the series gained so much love and popularity from the audience, so it is assumed that the next season will also be great and worth waiting for.
The Plot
It shows the city of Berlin, as to how it was before the war and how it changed so much after the war. A police officer of New York, McLaughlin traveled to the divided city of Berlin in 1946. He traveled to help in setting up a civilian police force which was based on the American model. He was searching for the murderer of two American Gls, Max and Elsie, they came across an eye witness, but she was murdered soon after that.
Characters
Max McLaughlin is the main lead or the protagonist, an American police officer who came to Berlin for the first time. Tom Franklin plays the role of another police officer, who is helping in establishing a police force in berlin. Logan Marshall-Green is the brother of Max. Elsie Garten is a former linguist teacher who has joined the police force to restore Berlin’s glory as before the war. Finally, Clarie Franklin is the daughter of Tom.
Watch it or Skip it?
It is a treat for the ones who love historical thriller stories and periodic drama. It has great cinematography with solid performances of the characters. The storyline or the plot is just amazing and binds the interest of the audience.
Where can Story Move in Part 2?
In part 1, Max has finally reunited with his Nazi-hunting brother, but it was not a warm reunite as it should be. When Max went to check Claire, Mortix made his escape and asked a local person to provide him lift to Italy. However, there were some excellent developments in the story of part 1, but what happens in the next part has yet to be seen.
In short, Defeated is an excellent movie in all senses, from storyline to plot, to the star cast, to cinematography, positivity. Everything was good enough to maintain the audience’s interest, and through this, it gained so much popularity and love from its viewers. They are waiting for the next season eagerly. Definitely, it is a thumbs up for season one and season 2.
