Although the series Prodigal Son was terminated by Fox even before the second season had completed, the creators of the show are hoping for a third season shortly.
With an all-star cast line-up starring Tom Payne and Michael Sheen, this show has topped many must-see lists since it first released on Fox in 2019. But, unfortunately, owing to the sudden cancellation of the show – the finale was an agonizing cliff-hanger that fans now hope will not be the end.
Prodigal Son- The Show so Far
What started as a sensation has continued the trend even after its cancellation. The storyline seems twisted and dark on paper but plays out beautifully on screen, with incredible acting to complement it. After season 1 had an overwhelming success in 2019, season 2 was finally released on January 12th, 2021, after a delay in shooting and post-production due to the current pandemic.
The new season was set in this current situation as Covid-19 takes the world by a storm and goes deeper into the story of Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) and his dad, Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) – who is trying to prove to his son that he can finally get out of the manipulative and murderous ways that landed him in jail, to begin with.
Cancellation of Season 3
When asked about the possibility of a season 3, the show’s creators Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, said there would hopefully be one in the near future. They mentioned that they have been reaching out to other platforms and are even considering OTT and streaming platforms for the next season to release on. They seem to already have a pitch in place and ready to go. What is left is just for production to be approved and started! They, however, did not comment on the specifics that may come with season 3 to not spoil it for the audience.

More often than not, a show’s finale is the diving board for the next season to jump headfirst into. Episode 13 of the Prodigal Son’s season 2 took the viewers for a spin that they now demand to be completed. The fans are so invested that there is now a trending Twitter hashtag: ‘#SaveProdigalSon.’ This, while seemingly just a viral moment, could go a long way in ensuring that the show is picked up and immediately sent into production by popular platforms.
In addition to this, there is also a petition being virtually signed by around 30k people across the globe to continue the show into season 3.
Conclusion
Considering all the facts and current campaigns, it seems clear that there will surely be a season 3 coming soon, even if not from Fox. This is exciting news, especially for fans that were mind blown by the cliff-hanger that season 2 left them with. But, for now, all we can do is rewatch the show and keep it at the very front of our mind as we wait for the next season to answer our many questions.

Please bring back Prodigal Son. Great show, good story line, great actors. It seems when there is a good show on the networks cancel it. Not everyone likes comedy or reality shows. Hope that this is shown on a regular network and not on a streaming or cable network. Not everyone has these and can afford to purchase them.
Prodigal Son is such a great show! They couldn’t put together a better cast to make a more entertaining show that has such a unique premise. It is a refreshing escape from all of the “cookie cutter crap” tv that is continuously pumped out on tv nowadays. Myself, my family, extended family & friends really enjoy this show.
Yes bring it back i think OWN should not only finish agreements and talks and whatever else that needs to happen for All Rise to continue on the OWN NETWORK but i also think they should pick up season 3 of prodigal son can you even see how popular that the OWN NETWORK would become if they picked up two new tv shows that fans are going crazy to see ummm yeah they do that they might as well make there OWN+ NETWORK or i heard OWN was in talk with WB to help get ALLRISE so make there own streamer the WB Archive plus OWN+ and maybe a few other companies that OWN and WB own into this new streaming platform and charge 9.99 with commericals and 14.99 without commericals cha ching cha ching cha ching to be completely honest i think a streamer being created that just picks up tv shows cancelled to soon or shows voted so highly or so much petitions signed how ever they decide to do it but just a site for cancelled shows to continue would be awesome and i know it would do very very very well also they should get tv shows tv movies that were never released onto home media format and make them i know of a crap ton atleast 250000 titles or seasons that collectors and just plain people that would love to own there favorite tv show or tv movie i know i do and my friends do so there has to be more out there and with this new crazy world staying in doors is looking better and better and binge watching is the new reality the new thing all this can be done all this is very very possible just need thinkers dreamers and a few rich people that believe in this same idea let it be know
I have watched The Prodigal Son since the very start and I would love to see a Season 3 that continues on after Malcolm stabs Martin. I would like to see what happens to Malcolm Bright after been caught by Dani. I think the series should continue on for Season 3.

After I watched one episode of Prodigal Son. I just knew I had to see more. Malcolm Bright is my favorite character. It was hard on him as a child to know he’s father is a serial killer. He struggles with PTSD because of it. Yet he still gets through the day. He’s a hero. Even saved Gil from being poisoned by his father.
Please bring it back. Its my absolute favourite show right now. Just finished season 2 and was so sad when I heard it got cancelled. I hope it gets picked up again.

Best show there is hands down. Episode one sucked me In and I became a huge fan! At my job, no matter what I would have this show playing every week like I was going to church! (When you work at a bar or a restaurant you can do these things) as long as games and races were on other TVs I could do one, and I would FILLLLLLLL my bar and we would all watch this show together like a whole fucking town family, it was amazing. Please bring back season 3,4,5,6,7,8,8,10 and so on. I’ve seen shows that makes me feel like after watching my IQ points drop. Obviously metaphorically. You have fans that are waiting on the cliff you left us on with the ending on season 2. 😂 I’m serious, whatever network doesn’t pick up this show …is the one who will be missing out the most.
