The new animated sports comedy film Space Jam A New Legacy, was released earlier this year by Warner Bros Pictures. This is a sequel to the original Space Jam movie that was released in 1996. There were plans to make the sequel right after the original had been released, but it got delayed for various reasons. Plot of the Movie
In the first part, the story follows Michael Jordan when he was 10 years of age. He was a very passionate kid who shared his dream of playing in the NBA with his father. Eventually, Jordan writes history as one of the best NBA players of all time. However, his life takes a shocking turn when his father passes away, and he retires from the game.
In the Space Jam, A New Legacy, it is 1998, and James LeBron is a basketball player, and he starts playing a video game which his friend has given until his coach warns him not to do so. Then in the present day, he is seen encouraging his sons to pursue a basketball career. One son, Darius, aspires to become a basketball player like his father, and Dom wants to be a video game developer.
When one day Dom, along with his dad LeBron and Malik, are invited to Warner Bros. Studios to sign a film, LeBron doesn’t approve of the idea. However, Dom is interested in AI software in Warner Bros Studios. So AI-G Rhythm takes Dom hostage and challenges LeBron to beat his team in basketball.
They only earn freedom if they successfully send AI-G through the Serververse to Tune World, which Bugs Bunny inhabits. How does LeBron save his team from AI-G, and will he understand the wishes of Dom is the second half of the movie.
Cast Details
In this movie, there are both real characters and animated characters. LeBron plays himself and voices his own animated character. AI- Don Cheadle plays g Rhythm. Dominic, the son of LeBron, is played by Cedric Joe. Khris Davis plays the role of Malik. Sonequa Green is in the role of LeBron’s wife, Kamiyah, Ceyair J Wright plays the role of LeBron’s elder son Darius and many more.
Reception
In the first week of its release, Space Jam garnered high audience responses, which led to a good box office collection in the U.S, but there was a steep decline in the box office collection, which was blamed on the simultaneous release of the movie on HBO Max. In addition, the movie’s release on a digital platform will obviously decrease the theatre collection.
Where to Watch?
Space Jam is available to watch on HBO Max, which is the channel on Warner Bros Studios. Critics have reviewed the film as nothing and neglected the value both NBA and Looney Tunes hold. This movie has disappointed basketball fans and LeBron fans for different reasons. Many say it didn’t make much effect as a sequel to Space Jam.
