With the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on Disney+, the biggest question everyone asking is what happened to Wanda in the end? The multiverse of Madness was one of the craziest Marvel movies. So many plots, storylines, and characters are connected. Writer Michael Waldron has surely done a brilliant job in connecting all the dots.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a continuation of Spider-Man: Far from Home and WandaVision. It shows Doctor Strange the consequences of using the dark hole and Wanda’s grief for her children. This movie also included some cameos and dialogues from previous encounters of What If?, Loki, X-Men, and more.
What Happened To Wanda?
The movie started with America Chavez (who possesses the power to open portals to different dimensions) running from the monsters. On the way, she finds her route to Earth 616 and Strange finds out Wanda is behind all this.
She wanted to use the powers of America and go to the dimension where her children are alive. Kill the Wanda of that dimension and take her place.
A big fight took place at Kamar Taj and Strange and America had to jump through the dimensions to save lives. They end up on Earth 838. A lot of cameos and connections here in the name of “Illuminati”.
Meanwhile, on Earth 616, Wanda tries to take over the Wanda of Earth 838 and kill all the members of the Illuminati. Although Christine of Earth 838 (which is also a big story in itself), Strange and America find a way to run.
Wanda found the Mount Wundagore where the original spells of dark hold are written. She accepted her fate as The Scarlet Witch and continued her quest. At this time, Doctor Strange and Christine reach another alternate reality in which the Earth is in incursion and they met the darker version of Doctor Strange who possesses the Dark Hold book.
With Wanda destroying the Book of Vishanti (the book opposite to dark hold), this is Strange’s last chance to save America. He defeated Dark Strange in a musical battle, took over the dead body of Strange (shown at the beginning of the movie), and saved America.
Is Wanda Dead?
The answer to this question is very unclear. The audience would not want her to be dead. We want more of her. The showcase of her real powers was only getting started. She is probably the strongest avenger since the beginning. She destroyed an infinity stone with one hand while holding onto Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
Additionally, when Wanda realizes the mistake and the chaos she has made, she decided to close Mt. Wundagore and destroy all the Dark Hold Books in all realities. She destroyed the infrastructure taking it all over herself. Although a red light was seen after it which is similar to the light she possesses.
Furthermore, Elizabeth Olsen also stated in an interview that they are probable chances of her coming back. Also, Marvel has a history of bringing dead characters back (although not in a way we want it).
And and and, Wanda is rumored to be the daughter of Magneto from X-Men, and with the tease of X-Men collaborating with Marvel, there is a big chance of Wanda to come back.
We don’t see a reason why Wanda should not be back, although this time she won’t be with her children and there is no sign of white Vision either.
