What Is The Movie About?
The story is about the McCallister family who is making plans to spend the Christmas holidays in Paris. And they are at Peter and Kate’s house a day before they depart for their trip. Peter and Kate’s son, Kevin, is always a merrymaking subject for his older siblings, and they don’t miss a chance to ridicule him. And so, Kevin messes up with the tickets after being troubled by his brother, Buzz.
Because of this, he is asked to serve his punishment by staying in the attic, and that’s when he wishes that his family could somehow disappear. That night some really strong winds tamper the power lines and which results in causing the alarms to go off and the family to oversleep. And while they rush for the airport, they miss out on Kevin.
Kevin’s Wish Comes True
When Kevin wakes up, he finds the whole house to himself, and he thinks that his wish did come true this time, but then he’s frightened to know that his neighbour, Old Man Marley, is a very serious killer and he has killed his whole family.
And some small-time burglars, Harry and Marv, are constantly getting into empty houses and have already targeted McCallister’s empty house. But somehow, Kevin tricks them into believing that the house isn’t empty by now, and they delay their plans on breaking into the house.
Kate Realizes That Kevin Is Not With Them
Mid-flight, Kate realizes that Kevin is not there with them, and now that they have reached Paris, they get to know that the flight for the next two days is already booked. The whole family stays in Paris while Kate takes a flight back to the US. But then couldn’t reach Chicago; she stopped at Pennsylvania. But she joins a travelling polka band and gets to Chicago.
On the other hand, Harry and Marv are well aware of the fact that Kevin is all alone at home, and they make plans to break into his house.
