Real Genius is a sci-fi comedy American film. It is directed by Martha Coolidge and composed by Neal Israel, Pat Proft, and Peter Torokvei. This film premiered on August 7 1985.
It’s a story of a genius named Chris Knight (Kilmer), who was in his senior year working on a project given by the college. The project is on Chemical laser. Knight was alone to work on this project but was paired up with a new student in the college named Mitch Taylor.
The story starts when new student Mitch Taylor( Gabe Jarret) arrives at Pacific Tech as a beginner, for whom Chris Knight was a spoiled brat. But he paired up with senior year genius Chris Knight( Val Kilmer) to work on a project known as Chemical Laser. Mitch usually doesn’t connect with Knight for his loafer behaviour, but things started to get better, and their friendship automatically brought new progress on the Chemical Laser.
When the boys are working on their project and are very close to achieving their success. Gradually, the truth comes in front of them when the boys get to know that the government aims to use this invention of science as a destructive weapon. That’s when they start to think about what they have been working for.

The character greatly increases the beauty and excitement of the film. The actors fabulously play the characters. Val Kilmer plays the main characters as Chris Knight, Gabriel Jarret as Mitch Taylor, Michelle Meyrink as Jordan Cochran, and William Atherton as Professor Jerry Hathaway. Robert Prescott plays the other crucial characters as Kent, Jon Gries as Lazlo Hollyfield, Mark Kamiyama as “Ick” Ikegami, Ed Lauter as David Decker,

Filming Location:
The filming of this masterpiece was in a location near the north of Los Angeles in Canyon Country. At that time, this particular place was under construction. So it was easy for them to shoot the house erecting part. The most challenging part was destroying it with popcorn.
It is one of the locations not easy to go with, but the difficulties make the film more watchable.
