Awake- Upcoming on Netflix
The movie will release and distribute in 2021 by Netflix. The movie’s story follows humanity’s race to save the earth after massive global destruction that wiped away the ability to sleep and wiped out consumer electronics. The world consumed by chaos. A ray of hope comes through an ex-soldier, Jill, who could help with her daughter. The question revolves around Jill and her capacity to save the world before she loses her mind. In May of 2019, Gina Rodriguez also joined the cast.

Gina Rodriguez previously seen on the comic small screen show ‘Jane The Virgin,’ but lately, she has in thriller-focus work like ‘Annihilation’. In this movie, Mark Raso has worked with his brother Joseph and Poirier. Awake will see a post-apocalyptic scenario where Jill will require to save the world.

The movie has created buzz already amongst the fans. The story seems interesting. The gadgets and electronics taken away from humankind; their ability to sleep and function is also taken away. The world will be collapsing. The fans are excited about Rodriguez, A Golden Globe winner, for her top-notch role as Jane in the sitcom Jane The Virgin. The sitcom is currently running and is now in its final season, fifth. Rodriguez has worked with Netflix’s this year as she featured in a romantic comedy, ‘Someone Great’. Rodriguez acting as Jill seems promising from the short teaser we have seen. The official trailer is yet to be out, and there have been no words on the movie’s release date whatsoever.

However, Gina Rodriguez has officially commented on the movie being in the pipeline. She has already joined the cast where all the cast members are being finalized, and she seemed pretty delighted by her involvement in the movie. In her short interview, she mentioned everything being ‘baby new,’ so she had not much content to share with all her fans, except the movie genre.
Netflix is a diverse platform, and due to the pandemic, many major actors have debuted on Netflix or another streaming service. It has and is presently working on various new projects which is going to release in 2021. Since all of us have been living and thriving through a pandemic, the storyline following the apocalypse will come relatable for the audience of awake.
It’s exciting as the past success of Netflix projects like Bird Box, and there is a potentiality of Awake being added in the latest lineage.
