Bones is an American crime- comedy-drama series that was first aired on September 13, 2005 and had run successfully for 12 seasons in the span of 12 years. Hart Hanson initially created the show. The plotline revolved around forensic archaeology and forensic anthropology, focusing on FBI files that contained information about the mystery behind human remains brought by an FBI special agent to a forensic anthropologist.
The show parallelly shows the personal lives of the main characters as well. Bones is loosely based on the novel and life of Kathy Reichs, who is a forensic anthropologist. Bones had an extensive fan base, and fans definitely want to know if there will be a revival series for Bones as it had been quite some time, and fans have already started to miss the mystery and comedy that the show had to offer.
Will there be a Bones Revival?
It is in trend these days that famous TV shows and films are getting a reboot and revivals. Some famous shows have already been in talks for a revival, including Sex and the City and Queer as Folk. In an interview, Michael Peterson, the executive producer of Bones, said that he would definitely not rule out the chances of revival of Bones. Even though there are some obstacles, about 99.9999% of people would definitely want to come back.
The main problem that Peterson feels is the return of David Boreanaz. The latter plays the lead in the show as not only is he busy filming the SEAL team, a TV series of CBS, but also, he has this policy of not looking back that might pose a problem to the question of his return if ever a revival happens. Even if a revival happens, Deschanel, another lead actor, has said that it might be too soon to talk about a revival, and she too is busy with TBT’s show Animal Kingdom.
There hasn’t been any confirmation yet from the maker’s side regarding the revival of Bones. With the lead characters engaged in different projects, the revival seems not likely to happen in the near future.
What was Bones About?
The plotline revolved around forensic archaeology and forensic anthropology, focusing on FBI file which contained information about the mystery behind human remains brought by a FBI special agent Seeley Booth, whose character is played by David Boreanaz, to a forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan, whose character is played by Emily Deschanel. The show gives the audience a gist of two unusual genres, of comedy and crime, both going parallelly, and this is what made the show an instant hit.
The show also explored the romantic and professional lives of the lead characters. The season finale showed the tragic loss of Dr. Temperance’s memory when the Bones group was intended to be killed by a bomb blast by the antagonist Kovac, played by Gerardo Velasco, even though it was an unsuccessful attempt, led to the damage of Brenan’s mind. The show ended on a positive note with a speech by Booth on everlasting love.
