There are only two South African Netflix originals till date. After Queen Sonu’s announcement about Blood and Water was made in February 2019, it is a teen crime drama released on May 20, 2020, with six episodes. Recently the second season of the series was released. Right after the release, speculations for the third season has begun. Even though there are no official announcements by the cast and crew or Netflix, here is everything you need to know about Blood and Water.
The Plot of Blood and Water
As mentioned, this is a teen crime drama set in Cape Town. The story revolves around a girl named Puleng Khumalo who is introduced to a girl named Fikile by an acquaintance. That is where she finds Fikile Bhele, who looks quite similar to her. When other kids point out the fact, Puleng has a feeling that Fikile is Phume is her lost sister. When Puleng was little, her sister was kidnapped by a human trafficking network.
So in order to find out the truth and with the hope of finding her sister, she transfers to Parkhurst college, which is basically for kids of elite families. That is when things start getting more complicated and twisted.
What do We Know About Season 3?
Now that season 2 has been released, and it takes off right where season 1 ends. That is, both the girls Puleng and Fikile have found out that they are, in fact, sisters. Some relationships can bring quite a lot of surprises to viewers. So season 3 would probably continue from where season 2 ends.
Netflix had renewed Blood and Water for season two even before season one ended. But there has been no renewal or confirmation from Netflix about season three. We do not know yet about the cast, spoilers, or plot of the series. Only when the cast or production gives away some hints, any speculations can be made.
The Cast of Blood and Water Season 3
Guessing from season two, the primary cast of season 3 would remain the same, which includes Ama Qamata as Puleng, Khosi Ngema as Fikile, ThabangMalaba as KB, Dillon Windvogel as Wade, Arno Greef as Chris, Ryle De Morny as Chad, Natasha Tahane as Wendy, Mekaila Mathys as Tahira, Duane Williams as Mark and Cindy Mahlangu as Zama.
Release Date of Season 3
The trailer of season 3 is yet to be released, which means there may be a season 3 or may not. As gripping as the story of Puleng is the audience is eagerly waiting for any announcement regarding another season. There are many plot twists in this series, so season three would be great. If the makers decide to have another season soon, it can be released in 2022 around October based on season two.
You can watch the first two seasons of Blood and Water on Netflix. If you have already watched both seasons and are waiting for season 3, there is still hope.
