This movie is a supernatural black comedy movie which was released in the year 1991. The movie focuses on one strange family who are trying to connect with a long-lost relative.
What is the Show About?
Gomez Addams regrets the 25-year long absence of his brother named Fester, who went missing after both of them had a fallout. Tully Alford is Gomez’s lawyer who has taken money from loan shark Abigail. Abigail has a child adopted named Gordon, and he resembles Fester.
Tully suggests that they could use Gordon to pretend to be Fester so that he can get into Addams’s house and bring out the secrets about the stored wealth. Tully, along with his wife Margaret, attends a function at Addams’s place; this isn’t any ordinary ceremony; in this ceremony, they try to communicate the spirit of Fester.
How did Fester Return?
While performing that ceremony at the house in which they called out to the spirit of Fester, Abigail comes in as a psychiatrist along with Gordon, posing as Fester. Abigail takes up the name of Dr. Greta, who claims that Fester had been under her observation after being found in the Bermuda Triangle, where he was lost for years. She claimed to have found Fester in the fishing nets which were bringing out the tuna fishes.
How did they React to His Coming?
Gomez was delighted to have found his brother, and he happily took him to revive all the old memories. He even takes him to the vault. Gordon then learns the main reason for his fight, but Gomez is doubtful because he cannot believe that fester does not remember anything from the past, and everything needs to be told in detail.
How does Gordon get Along with the Family?
Gordon, disguised as Fester, is soon close to the family, especially the kids Wednesday and Pugsley. He helps them for a play in school, and in turn, he’s invited to attend the play as well. But when the play gets over, Abigail announces that Fester needs to go back, and the family decides to throw a party before he leaves.
And that’s when Abigail decides to break into the vault, but Wednesday hears Abigail and Gordon’s plan and decides to hide in the cemetery to catch them. Still, Tully then realizes that Fester is the legal owner of the whole property.
Why is it Worth Watching Even After 30 Years?
Indeed! The movie is iconic and has received mixed reviews in the past 30 years. The adults might get the plot very quickly as compared to the kids, but the story is still very interesting and captivating. You could watch this movie now and wonder why they aren’t making such movies now.
