The second season of Barbarians is down the production pipeline and will return to Netflix once again. A fascinating historical retelling from Germany, the first season was a massive success on the streaming giant. And since its debut season, fans have been wanting more of this historical escapist fiction. Created by Jan Martin Scharf and Arne Nolting, the most successful German series on Netflix will have its second season soon.
Are the Makers Planning Barbarians Season 2?
Netflix’s Local Originals Manager, Jan Bennemann, remarked that the international success of season one confirms that they can use local stories and talents for enthusing global viewers once again. Hence, the team is successfully collaborating with Andreas Bareiss, Sabine de Mardt, Rainer Marquart of Gaumont for the next installment.
Andreas, who serves as the series’s executive producer, said that the Varus Battle was quite exhilarating. The team thinks that they can continue the engaging narrative around Thusnelda, Arminius, and Folkwin. Hence, the production team is ready to bring another round of historical tales and adventures that dwells on the themes of friendship, love, and friendship.
Stefan Ruzowitzky, who serves as the showrunner, remarked that they are enriching the Barbarians’ legacy further with new additions. Ruzowitzky will be directing the first three episodes and the sixth episode of the second season.
When will Season 2 of Barbarians be Release?
As the filming for the second season has begun recently, it is too early to settle down on a release date, given that Netflix has not hinted yet when it will premiere the second season. But it is likely to release in late 2022 if the production is on schedule. Like the first season, Barbarians season 2 will have six episodes, with a run time of 45 minutes each.
The filming for the forthcoming season started at the beginning of September. It is taking place in and around Krakow, a Polish City, and in the surrounding areas of Poland. Netflix had renewed Barbarians for a second season in November last year.
Who is in the Cast of Barbarians Season 2?
As Thusnelda and Arminius, Jeanne Goursaud, and Laurence Rupp, are returning in the lead role, respectively. David Schütter will be back again in the role of Folkwin Wolfspeer. Several new members are joining the team, including Giovanni Carta, Daniel Donskoy, Cynthia Micas, Murathan Muslu, Alessandro Fella, and Katharina Heyer.
What is the Plot of Barbarians Season 2?
In the second season of the historical action drama, it will continue the plot of the Germanic warriors will once again return with their big sword fights, avenging their betrayal by engaging their ferocious armies. It is not yet revealed what historical events the upcoming season will take up. Season 2 is currently filming, and the first season had concluded with the 9 CE.
Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. For the upcoming season’s plot, the series can also take a time leap of a few years to explore a battle that Romans played to retaliate against the ambush in the Teutoburg Forest. It can possibly explore the 16 CE battle called the Battle of Idistaviso fought between the Romans and Arminius’ Germanic tribes.
