The season 1 of “One of Us is Lying” ended with solving a great mystery but has also left the viewers stuck with another mystery by the end of the first season. The series shows signs of preparation for the next season as the novel on which the story is based ends with a different conclusion. The novel is based on Karen M.McManus’s debut novel series.
Erica Saleh will be the new showrunner for the second season, with Darío Madroncontinuing to work as an executive producer. The audience can expect the release of the next season by the end of 2023.

Things that were Changed from the Book
The show has the same character as Ms. Avery, the teacher of the show. There were small changes made in the show from the book, starting with a gender swap of Mr. Avery. During detention, cause of the diversion caused for the police was also different from the description in the book.
Also, in the show, Maeve, Simon and Janae had a good bond, but there is no such description of it in the book. The most important change was that the book ended with a neat conclusion with Jake getting arrested, but, in the show, there is an uncertainty if Jake is still alive or dead.
What will be the Plot and Storyline for the Next Season?
Season 1 delivered another whole different change from the book when Jake is believed to be accidentally shot and killed during a fight. The four then hid the body and kept it a secret within themselves by covering the whole thing up.
The first season ended with a twist showing Simon unknowingly consuming a deadly capsule due to a dare given by Jake. But, the four central characters (Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper) who are suspects in this murder believe that Jake accidentally died during a fight between him, Copper, and Janae. But is Jake really dead or alive? We have to wait for the answer to be revealed in season 2 of the show.
One of Us Is Lying Season 2 can bring the story of the accident into the limelight where all the four central characters will be seen protecting themselves from the murder of Jake. Maybe someone is blackmailing them. This could mean revealing the dark secrets of one another and finding out who among them, aware of the truth, is betraying and blackmailing them.
