To set everything back at their place, she decides to go back and get a divorce. Melanie goes back to Alabama to face her past. She discovers that you can take a girl out of the South but not south could not be taken out of a girl from there. Realization hits her hard that the South is a much more perfect place for her than New York.

Oak Hill and Martha Berry Museum, Rome
Oak hill is in Northwest Georgia. It is a home where Martha berry used to live and is located on the campus of Berry College. The property contains a garden, which is beautiful. Since 1930 it has been there. With this, they also provide guided tours to the tourist of the property’s interior.
In the movie, it is used as a Carmichael plantation. This is where Melanie pretended to stay when reporters asked her about her presence at the particular place.
Starrs Mill, Fayetteville
The building is used as the setting for Deep South Glass. Jake’s glass-blowing business, where Melanie and her friends go by chance before her wedding. You won’t find the yellow seaplane here as that scene occurred while locals were fishing.
Downtown Crawfordville
The town is shot as the setting for Pigeon Creek, which is Melanie’s hometown. Various buildings are working as the cafe, bank, and post office. There’s also the Taliaferro County Historical Society, where film artifacts are retained.
