This year has been cheering up the horror fan with scary movies; Netflix is again here with Aftermath, released on August 4, 2021. It is a horror, drama, mystery, and thriller-based movie directed by Peter Winther. The casting stars are Ashley Greene, Shawn Ashmore, and Sharif Atkins. Inspired by the real-life story of Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter, Aftermath is written by Dakota Gorman and Peter Winther. To normalize the relationship, Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter purchased a home in San Diego, California, at the end of 2011, but things are not always the same as they seemed. The current rating of the movie is 5.4/10.
Worth Watching or Not?
Overall the movie was average, but the suspense of the mysterious man behind all the weird and strange happenings was quite effective. Though, it has some flaws. But the frightening scenes are quite chilling, the sound was significant, and the stagecraft was fine. The movie was good, really scary, and had few predictable bits, but the ending was up to the mark. Again, though, it is good for a one-time watch.
Forsooth, the movie was based, a minimum of part, on a real-life crime story of Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter. To survive their relationship and for a fresh start, Kevin Dadich and Natalie decided to shift to a new house in which murder has been committed. The couple overlooked the house’s past as it was spacious, beautiful and eye-wrenching and even at a less price, but the things are not always the same as it seems. Many creepy and weird happenings started taking place.
Adult magazine subscriptions started appearing without any pre-order or subscription. They get stalked. Their dog was poisoned, and even poisoned was found from the body of Kevin Dadich. Kevin found the corpse of Dani, Britt Baron. The couple is confused about how their house was showing up on real estate listing sites. Eventually, it is clear that they are not alone; something or somebody is controlling them. The ending was suspenseful.
Aftermath (2021) is partly chilling and partly a domestic plot. The thriller is effecting and scary. However, some scenes are predictable but not utter trash either. When you predicted one issue or a scene, then another component becomes the key focus, but it does not contain something you haven’t seen before. The effective part is the last 20 minutes of the movie. However, it is a good movie in terms of story, scares, and overall entertainment.
Is there a Sequel Planned?
Peter Winther directed a thriller, dramatic and mystic Aftermath is a real-life crime story on a low budget. Though there is no official sign of the next part, the sequel can be highly expected. Besides the blockbuster hit of Aftermath on a low budget with a 5.4/10 rating, another sequel may come. Though, right now, it can be difficult to comment on the story’s plot and modifications. Thus, the probability of a sequel is higher.
