Val is a documentary film made in 2021, and it follows the life and career of actor Val Kilmer, starring Val Kilmer himself and directed by Leo Scott and Ting Poo. It was a limited-release film at first till it was released exclusively on the OTT platform Amazon Prime. It is kind of an Auto-biographical and quite an up-close and personal film about Val Kilmer’s life and his career. Val Kilmer himself comes out as a misunderstood perfectionist and a true artist at heart.

Is it Worth Watching or Not?

Yes! This is a must-watch for anyone and is a true masterpiece of a movie. Kilmer gives the audience glimpses of all the numerous trials and tribulations he had to go through in this life to achieve his current status. The movie has not only been well received by fans also built but critics as well. Val himself is a Hollywood legend, and this film is a benchmark to celebrate his actual hard work and persistence in this industry which brought him up to where he is now. The movie starts with Val as himself and an array of other famous stars such as Jim Carrey also playing as himself to showcase his role in Val’s life.

Val

Showing the real struggles, exhaustion, and misunderstanding of a life that cancer could have stolen, instead rekindled into faith. This movie could make someone rethink their life and show what actual hard work and struggle looks like through Val Kilmer’s point of view.

Success is much more than the fine display of near-flawless technique. Val is a master craftsman as an actor who has made portraits of himself with the various endearing characters he has built throughout his career, which I have shared in viewing with the rest of the world. While it is hard to see his voice taken from him, the strength of will that he has to continue regardless of how others see him inspires strength.

The pace of the film felt relaxed and constant. Not unbearably slow where you would feel compelled to skip ahead, but consistent with the evenness of the narrator’s voice, who happens to be his son, Jack. The producers organized Val’s life chronologically with shots of related video from various moments sewn in. It felt much like the scrapbook we see created on screen. The documentary is worth a watch for the tale told in Val’s own words, but also for the self-reflection it caused. Overall, Val is an inspirational and exceptionally well-made docu movie and is worth giving a try.

Will there be a Sequel?

Since this is a documentary film, there isn’t a chance of getting a sequel, but similar movies of this style will come, showcasing the struggles of various actors or personalities that we never knew of. However, Val did create a revolution in the Hollywood film industry, sparking a crazy about a whole new genre of movies that the fans can look forward to.

The only word in the dictionary which can describe Lokesh well is "Curious". He is a man who sits in the corner of a café, sipping his coffee and watch others and write about them having a good time. Addicted to bettering himself each day. An impressive introvert who finds his home in the places he travels. It's either the power of universe or sunsets that sets his soul free. In between, He can be found wrapped in his own bubble, knitting stories even before the sun rises!
