While some, like film critic Jeff Nelson andMashable’s Alison Foreman, didn’t like the film much and concluded it to be not as impactful as the original The Matrix and claimed it to be to meta. Indiewire’scritic David Ehrlich, on the other hand, claimed it to be the boldest sequence in the Hollywood sequel, while Vox’s writer Emily VanDerWerff stated that this movie would be equally liked as well as hated by many.

The premise of the film focuses on the time almost two decades post the events of The Matrix Revolutions where Neo lives life like an ordinary individual in San Francisco as Thomas A. Anderson.
There, his therapist prescribes him the blue pills. He and Trinity do not recognize each other, but his encounter with Morpheus changes his life once again. Mr. Anderson gets the red pills from Morpheus, which eventually opens his mind to the world of The Matrix.
