“Lightyear” is not the origin tale of the Buzz Lightyear toy from Pixar’s “Toy Story” series. It explains how the Buzz Lightyear toy ended up in Andy’s room. Andy’s mother purchased a Buzz Lightyear toy in 1995 since he was the main character in Andy’s favourite film at the time.
“This is that film,” a title board says before ushering us into an animated space opera starring Chris Evans as Buzz. Along the journey, we’ll encounter the Evil Emperor Zurg and discover the origins of all those catchphrases that people have been uttering for the past 27 years.
About ‘Lightyear’ movie
Lightyear, Disney Pixar’s latest effort, did not fulfil expectations in its first three days of release. According to Deadline, Lightyear earned $51 million in its first three days at the box office. Meanwhile, Jurassic World, which also debuted lately, earned $57 million.
According to Variety, Pixar should be concerned by the low figures, as Lightyear requires a $200 million expenditure to develop.
Experts instantly pointed out that the film’s failure might be attributed to the fact that it does not appeal to a large audience of young girls, but they also feel the plot has received severe criticism.
“Lightyear” opens with a mission designed specifically for space rangers. Buzz is teamed with his best friend, Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba). They exchange inside jokes and experiences from previous operations. Despite all of their labour for NASA in “Hidden Figures,”
Hawthorne is a Black woman, which is uncommon in space movies. Buzz’s tendency for “monologuing,” or recording the Shatner-like captain’s log into the gadget on his arm, is continually mocked by her. Before each voyage, the pair touches their fingers and exclaims, “To infinity and beyond!”
Is there a lesbian scene in Lightyear?
Yes! There is a kissing scene between two female partners. In the opening 30 minutes of Lightyear, Alisha Hawthorne (voiced by Uzo Aduba), a female space ranger and close friend of Buzz Lightyear, enjoys a quick kiss with her same-sex lover.
This kiss was part of a sequence depicting the couple’s relationship milestones. It also depicts the couple’s son, albeit it is unclear if he was adopted or created through assisted reproduction.
However, it was the short kiss between two fictitious characters that broke the camel’s back for censors in those nations. They demanded that the moment be removed from the film.

Normally, Disney would discreetly remove such a contentious sequence from the film to meet with “local tastes,” as it has little bearing on the storyline.
However, Pixar employees had previously sent a letter saying that Disney corporate leaders were suppressing “almost every moment of blatantly homosexual affection” in their movies.
What do the cast of the ‘Lightyear’ have to say?
Evans chastised parents and others who objected to the same-sex kiss being depicted in a movie aimed for children last week, just days before “Lightyear” entered theatres.
Evans, 41, called people who oppose the scenario “idiots.”
“Throughout history, you can see, as we wake up, the American narrative, the human story is one of perpetual societal awakening and evolution, and that’s what makes us good,” he remarked, later adding to Reuters, “Those folks die off like dinosaurs.” I believe the idea is to ignore them, march on, and accept the change that makes us human.”
Anyone who has been following the events at The Walt Disney Company should not be shocked by the entertainment company’s unwavering dedication to furthering the LGBT agenda.
The kiss that got the movie banned
Lightyear, Disney-long-awaited Pixar’s Toy Story prequel, has been banned in 14 Asian and Middle Eastern nations, including China!
The ban began in the United Arab Emirates, when the Ministry of Youth and Culture’s Media Regulatory Office declared on June 13, 2022, that Lightyear would be prohibited from playing in all cinemas due to “violation of the country’s media content guidelines.”
According to Variety, the UAE initially cleared Lightyear’s distribution but cancelled the licence after social media posts accused the film of offending Muslims and Islam.
Then it followed by other countries too!
