The Storyline of the Barb Wire
Barb Wire is a movie set in the future year of 2017 when the United States was depicted as fighting its Second Civil War. In that wartime situation, the protagonist Barb Wire owned a nightclub in Steel Harbor which was portrayed as the only free city of America at that time.
Dr. Cora Devonshire, who is a scientist, offers Barb a place in her mission to end the war with a secret antidote to a virus that the fascist Congressional Directorate government developed in the first place. Barb initially didn’t want to be a part of such a dangerous mission but agrees later asher former lover Axel Hood was accompanying Dr. Cora as her husband.
She agrees to get the couple on the plane for a million dollars but in a fascist country with everything under the government’s total control, getting on the plane safety meant going through hell safely towards your destination.
A good amount of action took place between the government officials and the three of them, and after Barb successfully knocked out the bad guys, Dr. Devonshire and her husband Axel made their way towards the plane, and Barb returned to her normal life after her fair share of trouble, action and endangering her life.
Why was the Film Not a Hit in the Box Office?
The moviemakers seemed to have experimented with a new concept for the movie but failed terribly at a decent and exciting portrayal of the story on screen. The storyline had a good concept of depicting a fascist state that needs to be saved. Many shows with such concepts did well at the box office.
Here, we can take the perfect example of The Handmaid’s Tale on Amazon Prime and Hulu, which has been great. But the story of Barb Wire felt incomplete with no real meaning to bring out of it. Pamela Anderson faced the worst criticisms after acting in the movie from both the audiences and the critics. The worst of all was at the time when she was nominated as the worst actress in many award shows.
