It is an American police procedure comedy TV series. It was first aired on September 17, 2013. It was concluded with 8 seasons and 153 episodes on September 16, 2021. Michael Schur and Dan Goor created this series. The storyline of this series focuses on a detective of a police department of New York City in Brooklyn-99th precinct, named Jake Peralta. Most of the time, he comes into a fight with his commanding officer.
Plot
Season 1
The first season of the series was released on September 17, 2013, containing 22 episodes in total. In this season, Raymond Holt becomes the new leader of the NYPD, and after that, he immediately comes into conflict with Jake, as he is childish but an amazing detective. Even though he is so childish, but at the same time, he is so good at crime-solving. The first season concludes when Jake goes undercover.
Season 2
The second season of the series was released on September 28, 2014. This season contains 23 episodes in total. In this season, Jake comes back to the precinct after going undercover to help take down the mafia, but he gets discouraged when a monster escapes. In this season, he starts his relationship with a defense lawyer named Sophia Perez.
Season 3
The third season of the series was released on September 27, 2015. It contains 23 episodes in total. In this season, a new NYPD captain came named Seth Dozerman, who afterward dies of a heart attack watching Jake and Amy kissing.
Season 4
The fourth season of the series was released on September 20, 2016. It contains 22 episodes in total.
Season 5
The fifth season of the series was released on September 26, 2017. In this season, Jake and Rosa have to be in jail before nine-nine will be able to bust Melaine after when Holt is forced to make a deal with Murphy.
Season 6
The sixth season of the series was released on January 10, 2019. This season consists of 18 episodes in total. In this season, Holt knows that the commissioner has lost his position as John Kelly has joined in his place.
Season 7
The seventh season of the series was released on April 23, 2020. It consists of 13 episodes in total. In this season, Holt has to struggle to deal with demotion as a patrol officer.
Season 8
The eighth and the latest season of the series was released on August 12, 2021. In this season, the precinct experiences a drastic change due to the covid-19 pandemic. In this, Rosa quits her job, and now she becomes a private investigator. Jake and Amy try to keep their lives in control during the first year of parenting.
Why Season 9 of the Series will not be Made?
When the series did not get its renewal with Fox, it decided to run for a couple of years more and then came on NBC, but this time we have to say a final goodbye to the series. It will not continue any further because it will be stretching itself if it does now, so this is the right time for it to conclude. So this is the best decision by the makers so that love of the audience can be maintained.
So the best thing to be in the audience’s heart is not to make the series stretch more and end it at the right time.
