Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first female-fronted movie Captain Marvel is getting a sequel.
Since the movie was released earlier in 2019, it might take a while for the sequel to the premier. Captain Marvel, directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, served as an origin story for Carol Danvers as she tries to stop the Skrull invasion of earth. The movie also featured a young Nick Fury who teams up with Danvers to halt the said invasion.
There are a lot of ways the next Captain Marvel movie can go. It could explore Carol’s life after she flies off from earth in search of a new home for Skrulls. Another possible scenario is her fight against the Kree and Yon-Rogg. They can also explore what happens after the events of Avengers Endgame.
Since all Marvel movies have sequels, another film for Captain Marvel is confirmed. Marvel finally confirmed Captain Marvel 2 at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Of course, the film won’t be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4; it is definitely in the line to be released.
Most Marvel movies have a three-year gap in between them. Lots of the number of projects currently in development by Marvel. Due to that, fans probably won’t see Captain Marvel 2 at least until 2022.
Set-up for sequel
Suppose if Captain Marvel takes place after a significant amount of time in the future, we can hope to see Monica Rambeau. She is the daughter of Maria Rambeau, Carol’s best friend, and in the comics, Monica obtains superpowers and is a superhero by the name of Spectrum. She is already confirmed to be a part of the WandaVision show. It should also be noted that the movie focused a lot on her character development.
Connection to Ms Marvel
It was announced at the D23 Expo that Ms Marvel would be joining the MCU. Ms Marvel, aka Kamala Khan, will be getting her show on the Disney+ streaming site. In the comics, Ms Marvel is with relation with Captain Marvel, and it won’t be a wild guess to think that Carol could also appear in the show.
Captain Marvel got a good response from fans, so MCU is planning another movie of Captain Marvel. The future is bright for the character; soon, we can see some good news.
What will be the cast of the sequel?
Brie Larson will ofcourse be back as Carol Danvers and seeing the friendship appreciation by the fans, and it would be a surprise if we don’t see Lashana Lynch back as Maria Rambeau.
For now, let’s wait for the movie’s trailer to come out. Then it will be easier to deduce information for this long-upcoming movie.
