The popular Indiana Jones series is finally getting the fifth movie, after much speculation, rumors, and pushbacks. Starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, the movies thus far have all been box office hits in their respective eras. The first installment was 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, the next movie that came out in 1984, called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, followed by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
Since the fourth movie, the fans have not only waited but significantly aged waiting for the fifth one to finally come out. The fifth movie has been through a plethora of problems before finally being officially announced as happening. There were several writers that never made the final cut, followed by the global pandemic that further delayed the shooting. The anticipation for the new movie has caused fans across the world to get excited and start making theories about what the movie will be out, who will be in it, and most importantly when it will hit the screens. Indiana Jones 5 Release Date
Despite the setbacks so far, the latest release date has been announced to be July 29, 2022, and if all goes well, we might be able to enjoy the movie in the theatres worldwide in around a year from now.
Actually, the movie should have been released in July of 2019, was then pushed to July 2020. After the repercussions of the Covid-19 virus became clear, this date was once again moved to July 2021. The latest one-year delay seems to be the final one since the shooting has started as of early June and seems to be continuing. In fact, there was a social media comment made by director James Mangold that they are still good for shooting and all is going as per plan.
Indiana Jones 5 Cast
It is obvious and undeniable that no one but Harrison Ford can play Indiana Jones – so he will surely be returning for the fifth movie. Whether he will continue to play this role for any subsequent movies is questionable. But we can say with certainty that we will see him in Indiana Jones 5. Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame has surprisingly been cast as the female lead. Another fun cast member is the Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. His role however is yet to be revealed, but it can be expected that he will be the villain.
Indiana Jones 5 What It Might be About?
Although some of the previous movies have had slightly altering chronological order, this fifth movie will be a continuation of the fourth one according to the producer Frank Marshall. This does not translate to a direct sequel, but we will surely see some timeline connect to the previous movie. Additionally, based on the shooting locations some fans have predicted that the film will show the Apollo 11 mission astronauts returning.
Other than these speculations nothing much is known of the upcoming movie that will shed light on possible storylines. Even new character castings have been kept well wrapped and fans are excited to see posters and trailers in order to make any new predictions.
With this franchise, and especially this heavily delayed fifth addition, it is smart to stay wary of the possibility of an early or even a timely release. So, don’t let yourself get too carried away by the rumors in case they cause you to get excited for no reason. It might however be a good time now to rewatch the last four movies even if you have already watched them and get geared up for the upcoming movie (hopefully soon!).
