Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’ is one such series that deals with the issue of technology. The influence of technology in our lives for the good and, most importantly, for the bad. The series focuses on the dark side of technology. Each season enhances the concept. How we are letting technology consume our time, attention, privacy and our lives. The title ‘Black Mirror’ itself refers to the screens that keep us glued to our seats for several hours. The mobile screens, laptop screens, computer screens, and the television screens too.
The progress of technology is inevitable. But its serious drawbacks can be controlled. Hence, being a bitter-sweet issue, the series aims to impart awareness. But here we know, some drawbacks are for real but are we ready to accept them?
About the Seasons
The seasons have showcased the issue rather discreetly, season 1 begins with the abduction of Princess Susannah, and the condition on which she would be returned is very nasty.
Season 2 shows that people are forced to do tasks that they do not like, and the only way out of it would be to enter a talent show and impress the judges.
The Season 3 focuses on obsession with status, video games that are advanced enough to cause stressful situations, and tempting teenagers to go the wrong way.
Season 4 primarily focuses on how technology forces people to take up jobs despite their hectic time schedule and devices developed to keep track of people, museums for criminal artifacts, and the various uses of technology that are leading to ruins of privacy.
Season 5, the last season but still engaged in imparting the knowledge about the misuse of technology and robots that have disturbed the mental peace of people. Being non-living things, these have created a wide space in our lives that are continuously diving deep inside to cause trouble.
Is Season 6 Coming?
Being one of Netflix’s best series, the reviews of season 5 did stay along the line, but we could see a decline in the episode count. Season 6 is on standby for now; though it’s not canceled, there are no plans for season 6 by now.
But it’s a highly recommended show, as we might relate to the show in many ways during this time, and we hope that the series has given its all to get its message conveyed. Till then, we could only sit back and wait for season 6.
