Also, Thomas Wayne or Martha won’t be joining for the sequel either, as she was killed.
However, we may anticipate a significant emotional impact from Joker 2: Folie À Deux. Phillips previously told Deadline in 2019 that such a film (should it be made) would be “amazing” and “would have to have a strong thematic resonance like this one, which is ultimately about childhood trauma, a lack of love, and a lack of empathy. Each of these elements is what made this film effective for us. So, we’d need something with a similar psychological appeal.”
