21 Jump Street is an American action-comedy flick helmed by Phil Lord with Christopher Miller, co-produced by and featuring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, and screenplay by Michael Bacall from a script written by him and Jonah Hill. Police officers are sent undercover as high school students to prevent the outbreak of a synthetic drug. In addition, there is a report that Sony is planning a female-led Jump Street spinoff titled Jump Street: Now For Her Pleasure.
24 Jump Street was initially scheduled to be the film’s title, bypassing 23 entirely. It has, however, been renamed Jump Street: Now For Her Pleasure, as reported by Deadline as reported by online news site Deadline Hollywood.
Has the Filming Started?
After at least six years since the idea was first announced, 21 Jump Street’s spinoff has still not been produced. The most recent screenplay for Jump Street: Now for Her Pleasure was written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, and the film has been retitled. However, it was speculated by the end of 2018 that Tiffany Haddish of “The Carmichael Show” and rapper and comedian Awkwafina were negotiated to appear in the film as undercover police officers posing as a schoolteacher and her daughter, sequentially.
The comedy plot has not been revealed yet, and I’ve not found any details on its cast. It may also not be an official title, but at least the unofficial title has been revealed for the female-led spinoff that has seen little progress over the past couple of years.
How Long until Spin-Off hits Cinemas?
As of now, no official statement has been made regarding the latest film in the franchise. The last film of the series came out seven years ago. However, due to Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin in Deadpool 3, the process has taken a long time. The wait seems to be way longer than we anticipated.
The cast of Jump Street: Now for her Pleasure
As mentioned before, the movie was initially slated to star Tiffany Haddish and Awkwafina in 2018. However, in March 2019, reports suggested that the movie would be titled 24 Jump Street and star Zendaya and share the screen with Haddish.
When will the Trailer be Released?
No release date has been set for the sequel, so a trailer for it can’t yet be predicted. However, if there are no delays, it will hopefully be in advance of 2023. Several feminine-led franchises have been created out of popular franchises driven by male characters, with mediocre results in the past decade or so. However, some of these films have still been viciously trolled online, even though they haven’t been the most profitable. In 2016, a fiasco followed Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.
This marked the first of many spinoffs with female protagonists that were well received by the audience. It’s hoped that studios will learn from its Charlie’s Angels remake to apply them to this new project. Whether or not the female-led spinoff of 21 Jump Street comes to fruition, the title is likely to be seen as a horrible pun by most people as many critics believe it may not bode well for the future of the 21 Jump Street spinoff’s female lead. Alternatively, it could be removed because it wasn’t the official title, which seems to be the case.
