Moonshot, directed by Chris Winterbauer, is an upcoming sci-fi that also belongs to the romantic-comedy genré. This movie, starring Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor, takes a slight turn from mainstream rom-com and reflects how a couple explores love and develops a romantic entanglement on Mars.
A major part of this movie has been filmed in Atlanta, Georgia which now seems to have become an important place for filming movies and web series. A lot of Hollywood directors and producers have been choosing Atlanta as their shooting location. The shooting of this film commenced back in June 2021 and it took almost two to three months to complete the entire filming part.

Warner Bros and HBO Max jointly released the trailer of this movie on the 10th of March, 2022 on various online platforms, and this two-minute and forty second long trailer successfully gives a good glimpse at the overall content of the movie and also makes people eagerly wait for its release. Brendan Uegama has shown his skill in cinematography part and music has been designed by David Boman. The trailer plays “My Universe”, a joint music project by BTS and Coldplay which appropriately complements the theme of the movie.
Release Date And Where To Watch
Moonshot was supposed to be released on the 24th of March 2022 but for some unknown reasons, the date was pushed back a week and is finally going to be released on the 31st of March. It is going to be available on HBO Max and to watch this movie one needs to have access to their subscription plans which cost $9.99/month (with ads) and $14.99/month (without ads).
In recent times when OTT platforms are getting popular due to their accessibility, a lot of directors and production houses are coming up with low to mid-budget films starring not-so-popular faces. This entire process is not only popularising the emerging actors, but good content is also getting worldwide recognition.
Cast
As mentioned earlier, the movie is directed by Chris Winterbauer and written by Max Taxe. Winterbauer directed a few short videos, earlier and also directed Wyrm. However, this movie is surely going to showcase his true directorial talent.
Cole Sprouse has been chosen as Walt and Lana Condor as Sophie. Cole Sprouse is a pretty popular name in Hollywood. He started his journey as a child actor and he acted in Big Daddy. He also acted in the popular sitcom Friends. He earned worldwide recognition for his role in Five Feet Apart as Will. He will be seen very soon in Riverdale as Jughead Jones.
Lana Condor is not yet a big name in Hollywood but her role in X-men: Apocalypse as Jubilee has got global appreciation. To all the boys, the franchise made her pretty popular too. Other renowned actors who worked in Moonshot are Michelle Buteau as Captain Tartar, Emily Rudd as Ginny, Mason Gooding as Calvin, and Zach Braff.
A little About The Plot
The movie essentially focuses on Walt and Sophie, two vicenarians having different expectations from life and figuring out their relationships, in the process. Sophie struggles with her long-distance relationship as his long-term boyfriend Calvin relocates to Mars for his lifetime job and she willingly enlists herself in the Mars Program to be with Calvin.
Walt, on the other hand, works as a barista in a local coffee shop and enjoys Sophie’s company. Meanwhile, Walt develops an infatuation for Ginny but it doesn’t last long as Ginny to relocates to Mars. However, Sophie and Walt meet again on their journey to Mars and through a series of incidents, Sophie and Walt realize that they are made for each other. Different, right? Only a few days left to witness their journey of Love.
