Among all the genres present today, the current generation feels attracted towards two genres in particular. These genres are Mystery and Comedy. While mystery films give the audience an adrenaline rush through their spine-chilling thrills and unexpected twists and turns, comedy films tend to tickle our bones and allow us a temporary escape from the harsh reality. Mystery movies create suspense, while comedy films provide temporary relief from the pains of life.
At first glance, it looks like both these genres are exactly the opposite of each other. But what if there comes a series that gives you a bit of both of these genres? Steve Martin and John Hoffman’s creation Only Murders in the Building is one such show, which is an unusual combination of both mystery and comedy.
Only Murders in the Building Synopsis
Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, three strangers, live in an exclusive apartment in the west block of New York City. The trio had only two things in common – first, their apartment, and second, their obsession with true crime stories. The trio is constantly in search of a chance to showcase their detective skills. And soon, their wish came true when a murder took place in their building.
When they found their neighbor Tim Kono died under mysterious circumstances, the trio sprung into action and began testing their investigative skills. The trio, while bonding during the case, found several clues leading to the murder of Tim. While Oliver and Charles brought humor, Mabel brought logical thinking. Things go south when they begin uncovering the secrets of residents of the building, leading to a web of lies and secrets.
To make things worse, the trio found that the killer might be someone from their group. Who is the back sheep among them? Will they be able to catch the killer and bring them to justice before it’s too late? Watch Only Murders in the Building on Hulu to find out.
