Till now, there are two Army of the Dead movies that have been released on Netflix. The first one came out in May 2021 and was followed by a prequel in October 2021. A sequel for Army of the Dead was confirmed in July 2021. This sequel which can technically also be called Army of the Dead, was named Planet of the Dead.
Army of the Dead ended with many unanswered questions, and the next movie can happen on Mexico’s border. Zack Snyder came forward in May 2021 and talked about the possibility of this movie, and here we are now waiting for its release.
Release Date of Planet of the Dead
Matthias Schweighöfer and Snyder are already working on Army of Thieves and Army of Dead: Las Vegas. So, Planet of the Dead is not the sole project they have to do. This makes it very clear that Snyder has a lot to tell.
If he will be joining Planet of the Dead as Director, then this would mean that we’ll have to wait a lot for the release of the movie. Snyder is also working with Netflix on Rebel Moon. Netflix and Snyder have not told about the official release date of Planet of the Dead. Currently, we don’t expect the film to get released before 2022 as it has not entered the production phase. Most likely, Planet of the Dead will come by 2023 on Netflix.

Netflix has revealed no official confirmation regarding the cast of the movie as of now. The reason behind this could be that if they talk about the cast members, then it will become easy for the audiences to guess the plot of the movie. However, we can still expect that the movie will take a leap, and it is very well possible that some of the dead characters of Army of the Dead can be brought back to life.
Omari Hardwick will be seen again in the role of Vanderohe as he was still alive after the heist that took place in LA. It is quite probable that the cast of Army of Thieves will be seen again in this movie. The cast of Army of Thieves includes Guz Khan, Nathalie Emmanuel, Stuart Martin, and Ruby O. Fee.
In a recent interview with Zack Snyder, he confirmed that Ludwig Dieter would return in the movie and reprise his role of Matthias Schweighöfer.
Expected Plot of Planet of the Dead
There can be numerous possibilities regarding the plot of Planet of Dead. One possibility is that it can continue the plot of Army of the Dead. A time loop can be seen in the movie.
As of now, much can’t be said as the movie is still under the process of development and still takes some time before details come out. A clue can be taken from the title of the movie- Planet of the Dead; it indicates that the zombie invasion could not be controlled in LA, and it will spread in the entire world.
