Power Book 2: Ghost is a direct sequel to 2014’s mega-hit TV show Power. Power is a story about James St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick. James is a stylish, intelligent and driven nightclub owner who secretly is one of New York’s biggest drug kingpins. Courtney Kemp created the show, and in collaboration was rap legend 50 Cent.
Power is home to numerous guest appearances, most notably and the surprising was Kendrick Lamar when he appear as a Laces, a drug addict of Dominican descent. 50 Cent himself made numerous appearances as well, where he portrayed the character of Kanan Stark.
The show surprise many people because initially, it made to be just one of those soap opera-type crime shows with a lot of diversity. However, as people binged on it, they realized it has a lot of depth and heart. The show became one of the most successful black TV shows in the country and even found its home to international waters like Australia and the UK.
The show ran for six successful seasons, ending on a high with significant numbers in viewership and garnering over 20 awards along its run. Following the success of Power, Power Book 2: Ghost was announced shortly after Power’s successful ending.
The Spin-Off: Power Book 2: Ghost
Power Book 2: Ghost is a direct sequel, picking up the story of Tariq, how he navigates through his new life following the events of Power just after a few days. Along the way, Tariq gets his business intertwined with other crime families like Tejada Family and many others. The cast of Power Book 2 consists of rap legends like Mary J. Blige and Method Man, cast as the leading role.
Power Book 2: Ghost season 1 ended with Tariq backed against the wall, trying to clear his mother’s name. This is where the 2nd season, which has already been greenlit, will perhaps pick up from.
Redman’s Joining the Band
In recent and pleasant surprising news, Redman is expected to join the cast alongside his brother Method Man. After several years on screen, the duo will reunite with Redman playing the role of Theo Rollins, the older brother to Method Man’s Davis Maclean.
According to an official description release about the character from Starz itself. Theo Rollins is supposed to a street guy who used to run rackets along with his younger brother Davis Maclean. Still, now years later, they both sit on the opposite sides of the law, with Theo serving a substantial prison term and, on the other hand, Davis, who has just been let off from the Tasha St. Patrick case.
Method Man and Redman, a Historic Duo
The news got hip hop fans, old-heads in particular, very excited. Redman and Method Man are two of the most influential, successful, talented and notable rappers from the East Coast. They are not just rap contemporaries but almost share a brotherly bond. Method Man was part of rap’s greatest group ever, the Wu-Tang Clan, whereas Redman was killing it in the game as part of the Def Squad.
The duo was formed back in 1999 when they released their first collaborative album: Blackout! They met each other when they were working with Tupac Shakur for his album All Eyez On Me.
