It’s been a while; Fox canceled the show after two seasons. But fortunately, there’s a high chance that Netflix can save the series. Prodigal Son is a procedural crime drama series on Fox. This show is a twist on Silence of the Lambs. This show’s plus point is the creepy background, sound effects, and music which makes this show a FOX-Y Thriller.
This show will most likely score Tom Payne and Sheen Emmy’s. The producers have made a great job. The actors have made the show come to life, and one feels like he is right there with the characters solving the crime with them.
Will there be a Prodigal Son Season 3?
Fox has officially announced the cancellation of Prodigal Son, after season 2, on May 10, 2021. But the show has dozens and dozens of twists. All the cliffhangers are left unanswered. Is Martin (Michael Sheen) dead? Does Malcolm (Tom Payne) get thrown in jail? What happened next? Does the audience need to know the right prodigies? The fans also made a Twitter trend with ‘#SaveProdigalSon’.
The fans enjoyed the unexpected, thrilling moments. With huge responses from the audiences after the cancellation news, it is difficult to comment whether or not its new installment has a future. But 55000 signatures for the renewal of Prodigal Son have made some way for its renewal.
Everything About the Cast: Who is in it?
Malcolm is a really good criminal profiler psychologist, and he never stops asking Gil for help, but that is what makes Malcolm, Malcolm. JT Tarmel, cast by Frank Harts, is of a soft heart inside but a really good detective on the outside. JT Tarmel pictured Malcolm as a weirdo at first, but he likes the guy after a few episodes. Dani Powell, played by Aurora Perrineau, also thought Malcolm was a little weird but warmed up to him and started to like him more and more.
She is also an amazing detective. Jessica Whitley, acted by Bellamy Young, is a strong mother. She loves her kids to death and always needs to know where Malcolm is at all times. Ainsley Whitley, played by Halston Sage, is a good reporter and loves her brother maybe a little too much. She gets into trouble once, but that stretches on.
Edris Tanaka, played by Keiko Agena, is a little weird, though in a good way. She is full of surprises, very smart, and likes Malcolm. Also, some scenes predict that she can read Malcolm’s mind from time to time. Last but not the least, Martin Whitley, cast by Michael Sheen, is sometimes a creepy character, killed 23 people. Again, though, an amazing character.
Although the show was not that successful, each episode is as intense as the last, and it is only the cast who sells the show. Especially the character of Malcolm was heavily sympathizing. He goes through PTSD, family issues, solving crimes that he can relate to in some way while being hit by tragedy, one to one, made him go deeper in a downward spiral.
What can be Expected for the Sequel?
Taking into account the unimpressive performance of the last two series, the show was officially canceled on Fox. Also, the number of signatures hasn’t crossed at least 75000, but huge expectations from the audience gave the season away for the new chapter. However, no official announcement has been made, but it might be renewed by 2023, but this time not on Fox.
