What is the Story about?

Risen
source: IMDb

After crushing a small-scale Zealot insurrection led by Barabbas, Pontius Pilate sends Clavius, a Roman Tribune, to hurry a crucifixion. Clavius endeavors to identify and interrogate Yeshua’s followers, as well as those involved in his execution and cremation, for answers to his absence with the support of his devoted companion Lucius.

Clavius, out of thoughts, returns to a humiliated Roman soldier, now a drunkard, who was expected to protect Yeshua’s cave tomb, and angrily shocks the intoxicated man out of a previously cherished deception. During a foray through a Jewish community, Clavius suddenly meets a revived Yeshua with his disciples in a private residence.

A Roman attack, commanded by Lucius as well as Pilate, approached the structure that Clavius had prevented them from entering that night. They find it empty other than a note from Clavius, who has chosen to review his research. After rejecting Roman polytheism and the god Mars, Clavius accompanies Yeshua and his supporters on a mission to establish the reality of his mortal rejuvenation, in which he interacts with and encounters both Yeshua and the apostle Peter.

Pilate surmises that Clavius has most likely backstabbed him. Thus transmits a group of Roman armies, to follow him and Yeshua. Clavius benefits the devotees in avoiding the Roman search team. When Lucius meets them, Clavius dismantles him before convincing him to let them pass peacefully. After telling his exploits to a person in an isolated house, Clavius concedes the strangeness of the story and its veracity, fearing he will not be the same.

Is It Based on Real-Life Incident?

From the perspective of a Roman soldier, the film narrates the known scenario. It’s not a real narrative, but rather a speculative account from the perspective of a skeptic. It’s a unique take on a well-known story. This is not the first instance a film has analyzed a story through the eyes of a new character.

Where To Watch It Online?

The action film Risen had its international premiere in theatres a long time ago. Columbia Pictures distributed it in the USA. It may now be watched on Amazon Video, Tubi – Free Movies & TV, VUDU, ROW8, Vudu Movie & TV Store, Apple TV, or Redbox.

It’s fascinating to see how Risen takes a new approach to well-known stories. Barabbas begins as a valiant rebel There are a few good biblical stories in there. The Roman setting in the era of Christ is quite fantastic, and at moments it takes on life within itself. Joseph Fiennes gives an outstanding performance, deserving of an Oscar nomination, and Tom Felton of Harry Potter legend also does admirably.
