American teenage-based drama TV show Riverdale is in the news for its upcoming and supposed season seven. With its characters inspired from the classic comic series “Archie,” the show was taken up for The CW by Archie Comics’ officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
CBS Studios Warner Bros. assumed its responsibility as the TV show producer along with Berlanti Productions and Archie Comics. Initially, the comics series was to be adapted as a film for Warner Bros. Pictures. However, when it came to Fox, the conception was changed to adapting the comics as a TV Show. In 2015, CW started working on this project and was given an order to first create a pilot episode for the show.
About “Riverdale”: The Series And Its Seasons
The shooting took place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Starring KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart playing Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes in the role of Veronica Lodge, and Cole Sprouse portraying Jughead Jones, the show made its premiere on January 26, 2017.
Last year in January, The CW renewed the show for a fifth season that came out on January 20, 2021. In February this year, the series released its latest and sixth season that aired on November 16, 2021.
Riverdale Season 6 Recap: What Happened In The Last Season?
The sixth season of the series began with an acute turn, changing lanes to horror. This season, the show took the audience to the town of “Rivervale,” a place with all things awkward and unusual. The place Jughead and Tabitha were living in now got a bug infestation.
Another scene shows Cheryl and her minions putting a number of creepy dolls on sticks so as to scare off all those living in that town and prevent them from starting a business in maple syrup.
She then put up her own maple harvest fest, and undoubtedly Archie was victorious in a lot of contests. Later in the night, he was called at Thorn Hill. Cheryl, who was present there, made an announcement talking about the necessity of making a sacrifice. Next, we see it is Archie tied up and set upright with an antler crown.
Shockingly, Cheryl stabs poor Archie to death and takes out his heart to cheer up the townspeople. The show continues the horror with the alternate/ parallel universe of Rivervale, bringing in more plots and twists.
Riverdale Season 7: What About A New Season?
It is possible for Riverdale, currently out with its 6th season, to have a season or two more. Usually, The CW makes an announcement for renewing any show in due time, and sometimes, within a few weeks from a season’s premiere.
However, at present, there has not been any such news, but chances are high for the seventh season. In Feb 2020, Riverdale announced its new season, so hopefully, the news for a 7th season will be out soon. Fans can expect Riverdale Season 7 to be out by fall 2022.
Riverdale Cast And Characters: Who All Are There In The Show?
The show features in lead KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, a high school football player with interest in music. Then there is Lili Reinhart portraying Betty Cooper alongside Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge.
Another factor in the main cast is Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones. Other than these, we have Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge (née Gomez), Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray in the role of Josie McCoy, and Mädchen Amick portraying Alice Cooper.
