Stranger Things is one of the most prominent series on Netflix. In July of 2016, the series has its first debut. However, at that time, it has become one of the most popular original series. The series has a rate of 22 million viewers in its debut year alone. Matt and Ross Duffer are the two creators of this series. Duffer brothers have received many awards because of their creations. They have earned a Saturn Award and Golden Globe nomination for Stranger Things. However, now the tables have turned. This time the “Stranger Things” creators Duffer brothers are facing a case by filmmaker Charlie Kessler. Charlie Kessler has alleged that the Duffer brothers have used his idea for the series.
A case has been filed on Wednesday in California federal court, Irish Rover Entertainment. According to the case, the makers of “Stranger Things” has copied the screenplay, which has been composed by Jeffrey Kennedy, including “plot, sequence, characters, theme, dialogue, mood, and settings from Totem. The case reveals that these two projects had a connection named Aaron Sims. He has worked closely with Kennedy during its working process. However, with this, he was also hired by the makers of Stranger to create the concept for the series.
The Similarity in Two of Them
The law authorities have tried to found out some similarities about both Stranger Things and Totem. In “Totem,” Kimimela or “Kimi” is one of the characters. However, she possesses some supernatural powers. Kimi has helped her find friends out find the portal gate to an alternate supernatural plane. This Plane has enabled them to battle against a dark spirit named Azrael and his army of Blackwolf.
Likewise, in “Stranger Things” it also has a little girl named Eleven or “El” with some supernatural powers. In this series also Eleven helped her friends to find out the portal gate to an alternate supernatural plane. This enabled them to fight against Shadow Monster and his army of Demogorgon.
With this Similarity, Netflix has an explanation about it. They had clarified that Netflix has repeatedly explained to him that The Duffer Brothers didn’t have any idea about his unpublished script. After they have refused to fulfill his demands, he started showing his baseless lawsuit. But his baseless didn’t frighten the Duffer brothers as his hard work and creativity are way beyond this stuff. The unfounded allegations about The Duffer brothers could do anything to them as the truth, and the popularity of the series is there with them.
