The Batman character has been explored from several different perspectives throughout the history of DC. Before Ben Affleck took over the role, Christopher Nolan’s trilogy premiered 15 years ago. This time, Robert Pattinson, the actor who played Edward Cullen in Twilight, will put on the suit. Unlike other origin stories, The Batman will concentrate on Bruce Wayne’s early years as a superhero.
Teasers for the New Film
As part of DC’s celebration of Batman Day 2021, lots of little events were held to honor the Dark Knight. Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, shared a new image from the film and teased a new theme to be heard in the upcoming movie, while Michael Giacchino teased his composition even further. The solo Batman film will be directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson portraying the Dark Knight. He apologizes for the messy desk (wearing gloves like the Joker) and says he hasn’t tweeted for six months, so he’s checking in after a while.
He celebrates Batman’s first comic book appearance 82 years ago, just like his legion of fans worldwide. As well as showing some glimpses of the Batcave, the image shows Batman about to fire his Batclaw (which is out of focus.) While there aren’t many details when it comes to the trailer, we’ll take what we’ve got. There was a teaser released back in 2020, and a new trailer is due on October 16, so there’s still hope.
In addition to celebrating Batman Day, Giacchino unveiled a preview of Batman’s new theme for Reeves’s film. In his tweet, he mentions DC FanDome, indicating the song will be released at this October’s event. It’s no surprise that such a highly regarded composer as Giacchino will compose the film’s score, with Batman being one of Warner Bros.’ most valuable brands.
Release Date of The Batman
Several delays caused by Covid-19 prevented The Batman from being released in 2021. A new release date is expected for March 4, 2022. Since The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012, a solo Batman film hasn’t been released since Batman v Superman in 2008.
A Look at the Cast of The Batman
After Nicholas Hoult reportedly lost out on becoming Bruce Wayne, Robert Pattinson has been cast as Batman. As far as the recurring main roles go, Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon and Zoe Kravitz will play Catwoman. Paul Dano will take up the role of The Riddler, who last appeared in a live-action Batman movie in 1978 with Jim Carrey. The Penguin, or more commonly known as Alfred, will be played by Andy Serkis, while Colin Farrell portrays Oswald Cobblepot.
Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves will be directing the movie. He has penned the screenplay with fellow Planet of the Apes writer Peter Craig. Producing the movie will also be Dylan Clark and Reeves. Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the role caused the franchise to take a dive in popularity. Pattinson, however, could reignite interest and give the franchise the success Christian Bale enjoyed in his costume.
The fans are indeed very excited and cannot wait for the film to release.
