Set in the 18th century, the film gives a whole historic vibe with the twist of werewolf myths. The movie shows a young man turning into a werewolf after surviving a werewolf bite. In the movie, the only way to become a werewolf was to survive a werewolf bite.
The film also portrays a rich influential family in France that seizes the lands of the Roma tribe. It also shows how the goons working for landlords torture the common people in the worst possible ways. The movie contains some of the gruesome scenes where a man is shown as mutilated, burned, and hung like a scarecrow and his wife buried alive in a grave.

Even though many people loved the movie, there are some who aren’t much impressed by it. Many viewers found the story silly and not scary enough as it claims to be, some said that the movie has loose ends with many things in the story not fitting in properly.
A critic in an article said that the movie failed its own genre (horror) by adding and focusing on other disturbing elements way too much. The dominance of the rich, the atrocities on the poor, colonialism, and World War 1. The film was better if it was purely made a horror movie or a historical one where historical tensions of that period are revealed.
But even with all the criticism, the movie has an IMDb rating of 6.1 out of 10. This proves that the movie is fairly good and is a good watch maybe sometime during Halloween!
