After seven long years of hiatus, The Expendables is once again returning for its fourth installment. Sylvester Stallone’s ensemble action-thriller franchise is returning for its final chapter. The Expendables 3 was released in August 2014, and now Scott Waugh is replacing Patrick Hughes to helm the movie. The movie is under production at Lionsgate, and most of the previous cast members will once again reprise their roles in the movie.
The franchise’s inception was back in 2010, with two sequels following soon after in 2012 and 2014. Stallone has been hinting about the fourth installment soon after the release of the third party. In 2017, however, he declared that he is facing a creative impasse with the production studio, which prompted his exit from the project. However, in 2018, he thankfully joined again, but production development did not speed up.
After a long wait, Randy Couture, who is in the cast of the forthcoming movie, revealed in April this year that a new script is under preparation. And, they are likely to pick up the shooting in the fall this year.
When with The Expendables 4 Release?
Last year the production team had teased the release of the movie in 2022. But, since the screenplay is not finalized yet, the release date is likely to be pushed forward, with the filming kickstart later this year. As of now, no premiere date is available, and it depends on how quickly they progress with the project.
Recently, Sylvester Stallone posted an image of a gold ring with a skull crafted in it, suggesting that the movie is progressing well with the production. Stallone said that the ring is a bit heavy, but it is going to no doubt ‘put some muscles on the fingertips.’ Filming will start in Autumn as per the reports.
Who is in the Cast of The Expendables 4?
A number of cast members from the previous installments have confirmed that they will reprise their roles in the forthcoming installation. Sylvester Stallone is once again coming back to pick up his iconic role of Barney Ross. As the group’s number two, Stallone will be joined by Jason Statham, who will be playing Lee Christmas.
Dolph Lundgren will play Gunner Jensen, and Randy Couture will make it to the team again as Toll Road. They will be leading the team once again, with several new additions joining the cast. Among the recent additions are Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Tony Jaa.
