Terrence Howard is an American actor and singer known for his role in Marvel’s Iron Man franchise as James Rhodes. He was born on 11 March 1969 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The actor is currently fifty-three years old. His role as Cowboy in Dead Presidents was his first breakthrough in 1995. After that, he played Louis Russ in Mr. Holland’s Opus, bringing him into the limelight. Howard received a nomination for The Best Actor in The Academy Awards for his acting as Memphis Hustler in Hustle & Flow. He has done other successful films like Winnie Mandela, Lackawanna Blues, Ray, Idlewild, August Rush, Four Brothers, etc.
Terrance Howard played the role of Rhodey or James Rhodes in the first movie of Marvel’s Iron Man. However, he did not appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Howard left after the first Iron Man movie because of a pay dispute. He was being paid much less than he was promised in the franchise contract for the second Iron Man. Consequently, because of being underpaid, he left after the first Iron Man film.

Why Was Terrence Howard Paid Less?
Terrence Howard said in an interview that he left after Iron Man first because of payment issues. He indirectly said that he was paid less because of Robert Downey Jr, who played the titular role of Iron Man. Terrence said that Downey took the money, which was supposed to be his leaving him with a far lower salary than was promised to him. Downey did a total of ten MCU films for which he was paid enormous amounts of money. He is paid the highest salary in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, approximately up to ten million dollars per film.
It was rumored that Terrence wanted the same salary as Robert. However, he said in an interview that the creators of the film said that he would be paid only one-eighth of what he was promised in the three-film contract because they thought that the second film would be successful without needing him. After this incident, he called Robert, who he only referred to as a friend, but he did not pick up or call back. Consequently, Terrence decided to leave the MCU. They had a strained relationship after this incident.
Who Replaced Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2?
Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard for playing Rhodes in Iron Man 2. Cheadle continued to play a role in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity Wars, Avengers: Endgame, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
