As far as themes of military, espionage, and international conflicts are concerned, the works of the infamous writer Tom Clancy are considered one of the best. Although the prolific writer left for his heavenly abode in 2013, his legacy remains etched in the hearts of his admirers through adaptations of his works into films and video games.
And to move his legacy forward came Amazon Prime Original – Without Remorse. Directed by Stefano Sollima, the film follows the journey of a vengeful Navy SEAL who sets out to avenge the death of his pregnant wife, only to find himself stuck in a much larger conspiracy against the state.
Story So Far
A former Navy SEAL, John Kelly, successfully rescues a CIA operative who a paramilitary group took hostage. Unfortunately, things worsened when they were identified as the Russian military. As a part of their retaliation, the Russian military killed several CIA operatives.
Kelly’s wife was killed when the military entered Kelly’s house while searching for him. Kelly killed all but one of the attackers before he was taken to the hospital. Did he survive? If yes, how he avenged his wife’s murder? All these and more are answered in Amazon Prime’s Original.
Expected Release Date Without Remorse 2
Even though Paramount pictures confirmed the two-film franchise in 2018, many things have changed in the past two years. First, a deadly virus took over the world, bringing film shooting and production to a standstill. Without Remorse 2, which will likely be called Rainbow Six, hasn’t officially been greenlit.
Then, the makers had to release the film on Amazon Prime instead of theatres because of the ongoing pandemic, which kept the makers deprived of box office profits. Will Rainbow Six happen, or will it join other shelved projects? Only time will tell.
Expected Plot Without Remorse 2
Rainbow Six, another one from the prolific writer, continues the journey of John Kelly, now known as John Clark, assets out to bring doom on the terrorists who threaten to destroy the safety of citizens of the USA. He forms “Rainbow,” a secret multinational counterterrorism unit.
Clark, the commanding officer, along with his son-in-law Domingo and SAS officer Alistair, sets out on a mission to save the world from a potentially more deadly pandemic than Ebola.
Though the makers are keeping the film’s plot under wraps, it is expected that the second part of the film might follow a similar storyline as the book itself. As of now, we can expect a storyline similar to the book with a few modifications.
Conclusion
In 2018, Paramount Pictures, the production house of Without Remorse, revealed in an interview that they signed a contract with Michael B. Jordan for a two-film franchise in the Clancy universe, Without Remorse being the first film.
The second film, tentatively titled Rainbow Six, will be the second film of the franchise. It will be based on the novel of the same name. It will be following the journey of John Clark (earlier known as John Kelly).
