Last year in February 2021, Todd Kochutin was severely injured when he was hit by a crab pot that weighed almost 800 pounds. He never recovered from his injuries.
This year, on May 3, 2022, another tragedy happened in Patricia Lee. Francis Katungin was also hit by a crab pot. He was severely injured and needed immediate medical attention. But, as the night grew, so did the water. It was very difficult to lower aircraft as much to get in on board.
But did he make it? What happened to him? Is he fine now? Did he get medical help? How much was he injured? These are questions that fans are asking. And we are here to respond to all of them.
What happened?
The episode of April 26, 2022, was the day when this tragedy happened. The water was quite lopsided, and one wave exploded on the deck, making a crab pot hit Francis Katungin.
He was crushed and got stuck between the pot and the boat’s railing. Officer Rip Carlton was typically extremely shaken, taking into account what came to pass for Todd, yet moved quickly to study what was happening.
It was clear that he was in a lot of pain when he was moved inside. At the point when he had the choice to look Francis over, Captain Carlton acknowledged he might have a squashed hip and rushed soul higher up to possibly request a clinical flight.
His rescue
To get to a hospital, Francis needed to be moved from the boat. And, as told, water was becoming tricker and more tricker as the day went by. It seemed quite impossible to lower someone and get onto the boat and lift Francis into the aircraft.
The weather was becoming quite unsettling as the boat forced its way through an icy storm to meet the Coast Guard helicopter. A person was hoisted onto the deck from the chopper despite strong winds and tall seas.
Francis managed to board the chopper safely, but the concern was whether anyone was dying inside. Everyone was shocked to see how someone could survive that kind of wrecker, but especially Captain Carlton was in awe of him.
How is he now?
We do not have any current updates on his health. We wish him a speedy recovery as it is going to take a lot of time to recover from such injuries.
