You don’t always tend to think adversely unless you’ve been brought up in such an environment. Malcolm Bright has been endowed with interpreting criminal minds and knows precisely how murderers think and plot. He owes this ability to his father, who is popularly known as ‘the surgeon.’ The series is the blend of the masterminds. Malcolm helps the NYPD solve cases but can’t do it without thinking like his father.

ToggleSeason 1 – A Quick Recap
‘The surgeon’ is a blatant serial killer. Malcolm inherited the way his father thinks, and it proved beneficial to him. Dr. Martin Whitly, aka ‘the surgeon,’ is witty, wealthy, and happens to be a sociopath who has killed at least 23 people by now. Perfection and flaws go hand in hand as we see this flaw helping Malcolm turn into the best criminal psychologist. But isn’t that obvious!
Murder runs in the very veins of the family. The first season introduces us to Malcolm’s father, Dr. Martin Whitly, his mother Jessica Whitly, who wields sarcasm like no other, his sister, Ainsley Whitly, who wishes her brother to have a normal life away from the murder mysteries. But for her brother, being normal means being indulged in cases. Staying out of it isn’t normal for him. The NYPD needs him to solve cases, but at the cost of him fighting the past fears every time he takes up a case.
Season 2… Yet Again, Rewind!!
‘Murder’ is a relatively common word or act for Malcolm’s family. But season one ended on a cliffhanger. We see Ainsley involved in a murder of a pharmaceutical tycoon. Malcolm tries to dispose of the body and save his sister, but her actions have pulled him back to the depth of his misery. His life’s in disarray as he sees his sister reflecting on his father time and again. Apart from saving her from getting caught in the act, he has to keep this secret from his mother as it might tear the family into bits and pieces.
With Martin trying to make up the bond with his prodigal son, he doesn’t know that mending it would lead to further damage and would eventually lead both of them to explore shocking twists.
When will Season 3 Release, and What to Expect?
The first season, comprising 20 episodes, was released between September 2019 and April 2020. The series returned with season 2 in January 2021 and is presently continuing. There’s no official announcement for the release of season 3 by now, but we’re still hoping to see it soon enough. Keeping in mind the present scenario of the global pandemic, it might release in 2022.
Season 3 might reveal the extreme family tension. With Malcolm’s sociopathic tendencies building up every time he consults his father, he is no less a threat. His struggle with his childhood memories is at constant war with the present day as he solves the cases. Adding to the misery, his sister has just made things worse for him by teaching his father’s values. It’s no less of a shock for him, but here there’s no recovery. Little did he expect her to do something so disastrous. Season 3 will have its share of surprises for the viewers as we expect the unexpected this time.
