Lucifer’s sixth season is all set in motion to be the ultimate season of the infamous sitcom. The sixth season will, as per rumors, make its first appearance in September of 2021. But before we start with our conspiracies and assumptions about the new season, let us first take a second to appreciate season 5 of the show. It was released in 2021 as a two-parted series (as Netflix is releasing most of its shows now due to the pandemic), and it blew the audience’s minds.
Season 5 even won the show an Emmy Award for its amazing choreography. Not just that, it won and was nominated for several other as well. Now that we’ve gushed over the fifth season, let’s get into our theories about the new and upcoming one.

ToggleRelease Date to be Announced in September
Fans were expecting a much sooner release of season 6 due to the huge success of season 5 and excitement and anticipation among the fandom about getting a new one. But COVID-19 had other plans and threw the production way off its course.
Initially, as we know, the sixth season of Lucifer was never planned to be produced. Netflix’s restoration of it from the fourth season implied a conclusion after the fifth one. That is another one of the reasons why the show was split into two parts towards the end. The producers wanted the end to the last longer, providing a form of closure to the audience.
After Netflix announced that this was the last season they had in plan for Lucifer, the fandom made an aggravated stand denying their decision. This took the platform by surprise, as this was once a show deemed unacceptable by critics after its second season. Their announcement drove several campaigns and petitions asking them for another season (the most popular one had almost 100k supporters).
Giving into the constant force, Netflix signed another season for Lucifer because a campaign by enraged fans at this time could not be afforded. Rumors for a 6th season started in early 2020, and they blasted up in a short period, so much so that Netflix had to switch its word in the public and start looking for ways to resume season 6. The process started by getting the actors, producers, and directors assembled because everyone had taken on new projects upon its news of the cancellation. In late February 2020, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson were finally tracked down and marked for season 6.
Expected Cast and Characters
In April of 2020, after more talking, the moment of restoration for fans looked less likely as Tom Ellis’s contract transactions fell through, although they were settled later, of course, and Tom Ellis was brought on board again back in May 2020. The show, which was then written, was rushed to be completed to start shooting and finalizing everything. But alas, the pandemic. Now, we have the word by authorities that season 6 is set to happen, but that would be the end to Lucifer, and Netflix will not give into campaigns and petitions again. The cast is expected to remain the same as the previous season. Even though we have bits and pieces of information about season 6, I can’t help but be excited about it. Hopefully, it will live up to the expectations!
Expected Plot
Since the fans were not satisfied with the show’s ending, show theorists assume it to be a continuation of the plot we saw in season 5. Although another school of thought is that since the show was expected to end without season 6, we might see a whole new story spun without the previous cold-end plot.
