She was such a sweet woman that she used to trust others very easily. Her brother reported her as missing when he realized that Alma could not be found anywhere. He reported her on December 28, 2009.
The police then decided to take immediate action, and they set on their way to investigate the matter. Later on, when they reached her house, they found that the place looked like a complete mess. It was very much evident that no one was residing there for many days. But they stopped their investigation when they found out that the pets of Alma were well fed and were in good shape.
How did the Police Find Alma’s Body?
After a few days, the police revisited Alma’s house. This time, they just did not leave outside but decided to get inside the house. When they went inside, they found bloodstains. They kept on investigating, and eventually, they found Alma’s dead body from a pile of trash that was close to her place.

The police were able to find out a witness who gave them the information that a person was seen who was driving her truck and was selling some DVDs from her house only. The man’s identity was revealed, and it was found out to be Benny Wayne McCroskey Jr. He and Alma met each other because of their common friend, Deserie Warthen. Alma invited DeserieWarthen to her house to celebrate her birthday party and it was then when she let Benny join both of them. They had a wonderful time together.
Later on, when they were helping Alma to clean her house, Benny and Deserie found some bank statements and it was then that Benny thought of a plan to steal Alma’s money. Though, Deserie did not support him. It was also revealed that Deserie was caught red-handed by Alma on 22 December while she was trying to steal Alma’s money. Alma then threw Deserie out of her house.
The next morning, when she met Benny, he told Deserie that they could use Alma’s card as she had given it to him. When both of them bought a few things, it was then that Deserie asked about Alma to Benny again. Then, Benny lost his calm and lashed at her. Deserie got very much scared and filed a complaint against him. The police arrested Benny, and later on, the DNA collected from Alma’s house turned out to be the exact match of Benny’s.
Where is the Murderer Now?
Benny was convicted for Alma’s murder and was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment. Currently, he is serving his time in the State Farm Enterprise Unit, Virginia. He is supposed to be released in the year 2032.
