This is a computer-animated series that appears on Netflix. The show was initially released in the year 2018, and then the second season was released in the year 2019, but you’d be surprised to know that after releasing the second season in February 2019, the third season of the show was also released in 2019 in the month of November.
The show has been renewed for four more seasons altogether. Each of these seasons will have a total of nine episodes.
Season 4
Season 4, which was planned to be released on Netflix, has no official date by now. Because of the global pandemic, many things have been put to a halt. Hence, there’s no news yet. Initially, it was decided that this season would be released by May 2021, but the pandemic didn’t let that happen, so we need to wait till the announcements. We can rely on 2022 to be the year for season 4, but we cannot confirm anything as of now.
What is the Series About?
The series shows a fantasy world in Xadia. A continent that is packed with magic from the very prominent sources in nature, such as the moon, the sun, the stars, earth, sky, and the vast ocean. Many centuries ahead, whoever lived in Xadia had a very peaceful life. But since they couldn’t use the magic directly, so they started following black magic discreetly, and because of that, the continent split in two by the lava overflow.
How Did The Dragon Prince Die?
1000 years after the incident, King Harrow killed a dragon kingnamedAvizandum and not only did he kill the king but the egg too that contained the heir to their kingdom. In response to this, the elf assassins were craving to kill Harrow and his son, Ezran.
Was Their Heir Alive?
Ezran and Callum, his half-brother, knew that the egg was not destroyed, so they decided to take the egg back to Xadia. But Viren, the dark mage, seizes the power of Harrow after he’s killed, and he sends his sons to kill Harrow’s children and to fetch the egg that they were going to return to Xadia.
By the end of the first season, we see that the egg has been hatched, and the dragon Prince is named Zym. However, his original name would be Azymondias.
Story So Far
In the previous seasons, we see that Viren has made several attempts to take the side of other kingdoms so that they can gang up against Xadia. He talks to an elf mage, Aaravos, through a magic mirror. And Callum gets the power to get the primal magical powers and can connect to the source, the sky. And in the second season, we see that Viren has been arrested, and Ezran learns of his father’s death, so he plans to go back to get the throne.
In the third season, we see that Ezran is manipulated to not take up the throne but rather go back to return Zym to his mother, who is about to die.
