“The girl before “is a thriller tv show. And it’s based on a novel written by Delaney. And if you’re counting on a psychological thriller to deliver a good amount of mystery to make the show a complete hit, and here you are, just at the right place.

The story is about a woman who is in love with the house she’s staying in, but little does she know that the house is under a spell by the architect who made it. But nothing there seems like they initially appear to be.

What is the Story About?

The Girl Before Review
source: Woman & Home

Based on a 2016 novel, the story is from the point of view of two women, named Emma and Jane. Emma has lived in this house before, and Jane presently lives there. Edward Monkford built this house. He’s a very innovative architect.

The story goes through various twists and turns until Emma’s death. And then Jane discovers the real person behind Emma’s death.

How did Emma Get Here?

Emma applies to live in this place with her boyfriend, Simon. But during getting to the place and rules about living there, the couple gets into a huge fight. And then an intruder arrives, to which Emma had to attend, which makes Simon very furious and goes away from that place. And that’s when Emma and Monkford get close and begin their relationship.

How does Jane Get Here?

Jane came to this place when she was going through a period of grief and immense pain. She had just lost her newborn child, who was named Isabel. She was forced to deliver even at stillbirth. Jane is still struggling and going through this rough patch when she finds out about this girl who lived there before her, Emma Matthews. And that’s precisely the same time when she gets into a relationship with Edward Monkford.

Edward’s Past

Edward seems to have followed a strict pattern in his relationships. He has gone through much in his life as he lost his wife and child in an accident and very coincidentally after he built this house on Folgate Street. He buries his wife under a building, and since then, he has started using spells to reach out to women. Women fall for his romantic gestures, and he takes them to beautiful places, dinners, and then intimacy.

There might be a tempting urge to know more about this story with the story said so far. So it’s a must-watch as the story takes several turns and concludes.

From the Critic’s Point of View

The story about a sociopath and his intimate love affairs is disturbing for many and might instill fear in many too. But then it is definitely must watch to know how Jane works her way up to get to the root cause of the events.

The only word in the dictionary which can describe Lokesh well is "Curious". He is a man who sits in the corner of a café, sipping his coffee and watch others and write about them having a good time. Addicted to bettering himself each day. An impressive introvert who finds his home in the places he travels. It's either the power of universe or sunsets that sets his soul free. In between, He can be found wrapped in his own bubble, knitting stories even before the sun rises!
